Spice Girls

The Spice Girls reunion has been filling our newsfeeds for the past few weeks now, and Ellen DeGeneres and Kristen Bell decided to completely take the mick out of it yesterday.

Kristen appeared as a co-host on the popular talk-show and the pair decided to perform a little stint on the girlband's comeback.

"Last week the Spice Girls announced they're doing a big reunion tour, but Posh and Sporty are not going to be a part of it," Ellen said.

"They're holding auditions for two spots in the group. Kristen and I are the perfect choice," she said. "Obviously."

The women dressed up as Posh and Sporty and the video clip is just hilarious.

We have to admit, when we heard the Spice Girls were reuniting without Sporty and Posh, we were a little disappointed.

“We are going to do something, us three. We’re going to perform and celebrate together,” said Mel B in a recent interview.

Geri, Emma, and Mel B will be reuniting to bring all our dreams to life, and have dubbed their new project GEM.

Mel B spoke to James Corden recently, and gave the real reason for the missing band members.

“The other two bitches didn’t want to do it,” she joked.

“Let me correct that. My other two fellow lovely ladies — you know, Victoria’s busy with her great fashion line. Mel C’s doing her own album and so they gracefully said, ‘You three go ahead and do it.’ We’re girl power, we support each other.”

We still can't wait!

Us ladies who grew up in a bedroom adorned with Spice Girl posters waited with bated breath for news that a real-life reunion was soon to take place, but we were left super disappointed when not one but two of the members decided it just wasn't for them.

And while we can see the logic behind Victoria's decision – enormous fashion label to handle etc – many fans were stunned that Sporty Spice didn't want in on the action.

Clearing up any confusion that may have arisen from her decision, Mel C explained in a column for Love magazine that it just didn't feel right.

"Truth be told, earlier this year, after several face-to-face meetings with the girls, I made the difficult decision not to be part of a proposed reunion with Emma, Geri and Melanie," she explained.

"Victoria had already bowed out, understandably with the demands of her fashion label and her rather large family," Mel continued.

While she says she knew she would be letting the band's die-hard fans down, she had to go with her natural instinct, continuing: "Unfortunately something didn't feel quite right and I had to follow my gut."

Referring to the band's reunion at the London Olympics in 2012, Mel admitted that she felt that that occasion would have been an appropriate farewell.

"For me the absolute pinnacle of my Spice existence was being watched by a billion people around the globe belting out Spice Up Your Life on top of a black cab at the 2012 London Olympic," she admitted.

Mel acknowledged that she's letting a 'lucrative opportunity' slip through her fingers by declining the invite to reunite with the others, but insisted that their time in the spotlight may be over.

"Didn't we reach a peak with the Olympics? There's a lot to be said for bowing out on a high note." she argued.

Ah well, fair enough.

We all love a good "tea and chats" date with the girls on a Sunday evening, and apparently the Spice Girls are no different.

Last night, Geri, Emma and Mel B had a little Spice Girl reunion, that included tea, cake and red wine… THE DREAM.

The three pop stars documented their evening on social media, and the fans loved it.

The ladies used all sorts of props for their fun selfies from the evening, including cake, a 'mummy' mug, red wine and a banana.

On a Friday night all you need is tea, cake, wine and friendship! #girlpower

Geri, Emma and Mel posed from some cute photos and shared them with their combined following of over 1 million followers on Instagram.

With Victoria Beckham and Mel C not returning to the group, the three remaining members have renamed themselves GEM.

The three announced their return to music with a YouTube video last month, and we CANNOT wait.

There's been A LOT of controversy with the Spice Girls lately.

Are they actually having a reunion? Will GEM go ahead? Will Mel C actually sue them if they do a reunion tour?!

Since nothing has been confirmed, everything is pretty much up in the air, but it seems Mel B is just taking things a they come amid all the drama.

Scary Spice uploaded the cute snap to Instagram yesterday of her daughter dressed up as Ginger Spice… and it's just the cutest.

Mel captioned the pic: "Today my daughter Madison wanted to be ginger spice, so I said yes of course you go girl!!!"

Mel also tagged Geri Halliwell in it too.

In unexpected news, Mel C has threatened to SUE the Spice Girls if they go ahead with a reunion.

The former singer wants to take legal action against Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton if they reunite for the 21st anniversary of the Spice Girls. Ouch.

A source close to Mel told The Sun: "Mel has told the other girls she is consulting lawyers about whether the reunion can go ahead without her.

“She believes she brought music credibility to the group and there is no Spice Girls without her. The other girls are in regular text and phone contact with her.

“There was talk of using the nickname GEM but they’ve decided against that because the strength is through the Spice brand.”

However, the insider added that Victoria is taking the complete opposite approach and told the girls to do their thing.

“Victoria has told the girls to go for it. She’s been really lovely and supportive, which has been a relief to them.”

Uh-oh… We can't see this getting any better anytime soon.

Earlier this week original Spice Girls Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner revealed that since a full Spice Girls reunion seems unlikely, they have decided to form a new band called GEM.

And now – according to The Mirror – the trio are in talks with the BBC about getting their very own TV show.

A source told the paper:  “It’s early days but Mel B, Emma and Geri are in talks about developing their own show.”

Although the girls have yet to sign any contracts, it has been reported that the potential programme would be a TV talent search to try find the next big name in music.

The sooner the girls are back in our lives – and fingers crossed on our screens – the better.

Celebrating 20 years since the release of their debut single, the Spice Girls have confirmed a reunion, but not in the way we expected.

Wannabe was released on July 8 1996, and changed the meaning of the word 'Girlband' forever.

We have been hearing whispers of a Spice Girls reunion for a long time, but it would seem that the dream is about to become a reality.

Emma, Geri and Mel B, also known as Baby, Ginger and Sporty, took to YouTube yesterday to announce some pretty MAJOR news.

The trio stated that they will be staging a reunion to commemorate the anniversary of Wannabe, in the form of a "party."

Despite our excitement, two familiar faces were missing from this 40 second video.

Victoria Beckham is currently running her very successful fashion company, while also raising four children, which might explain why she is unavailable to party down with the Spice Girls.

Mel Chisholm is also a busy woman, currently working on her seventh studio album, and judging the Asia's Got Talent show.

The three remaining popstars have renamed themselves GEM, and are gearing up to make all of our spice-dreams come true.

There is no news yet on the real details of the reunion, all we know is that GEM will be taking to the stage in the near future.

"You've stood by us for 20 years, and we wanna say a big thank you,'" Geri says in the video.

Well ladies, YOU ARE WELCOME!

Always dreamed of being a Spice Girl?  Well now you might actually have the chance.

According to Life & Style magazine Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B could be holding auditions very soon to find replacements for former band mates Mel C and Victoria Beckham.

A source told the mag: “The girls are going to be making a formal announcement about tryouts for their spots in the next few weeks…Posh and Sporty can be replaced."

July will mark the 20th anniversary of the band's first single Wannabe and apparently Baby, Ginger and Scary Spice are mad to go on tour to mark the occasion.

And since Posh and Sporty are refusing to participate in the reunion, the remaining girls have decided they can do it without them.

There has long been speculation surrounding whether or not fashion designer Victoria would agree to a reunion, but until recently it was thought Mel C was a dead cert.

According to the source: “It wasn’t a surprise that Victoria would decline the tour, but the girls really hit the roof when Mel C ditched too.”

And earlier this month Melanie Chisholm hinted to The Sun that she would be up be up for a comeback.

She said: “I will always be a Spice Girl. It’s a wonderful part of my past – but it’s still very much my present.”

“You never know what’s going to happen. I'm not allowed to comment on that.”

We're disappointed to hear the whole gang won't be back to spice up our lives – but at least that means we've a better chance of becoming the new Spice Girls.

Adele is known to put on a good show, no matter where she goes, but we are loving her latest little performance more than ever.

While doing a show in Netherlands, Adele took a break from singing to chat to the crowd, when one of her fans calls out: "Spice Girls."

"Oh stop it, I'm not a Spice Girl," the singer laughs before she breaks out into a little boogie and sings Spice Up Your Life:

We need her as our BFF.

Victoria Beckham has revealed that her Spice Girl days weren't all roses and sunshine.

The singer-turned-designer has admitted that producers used to turn her microphone off while she was performing with the band.

"They used to turn it off and just let the others sing. I got the last laugh – and now my mic is well and truly on, finally," Victoria said at the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition in London on Thursday night, according to The Sun.

Vicky B also admitted that they used to spend the band's WHOLE wardrobe budget on her little black dresses.

"I was always the one that loved fashion and it was quite a result for me because the girls always used to get their clothes for free because they were crap and so there was a lot of budget for me to have my little Gucci dress," she said.

I guess we'll never truly know what goes on behind the scenes of a girlband!

Victoria Beckham was as famous for her sour-puss face as she was her LBDs during her time with the Spice Girls, but it looks like her miserable expression had less to do with cultivating an image and more to do with the fact she was, in fact, a bit…miserable.

Opening up about Vic's time in the world-famous girl group, the star's manager, Simon Fuller, recently revealed all was not well with the girl from Hertfordshire in the 90s.

While speaking at the Business Innovation Awards in Los Angeles, Simon admitted that the highly-acclaimed fashion designer wasn't totally content during her time in the band.

"Victoria, coming out of the Spice Girls, being married to David Beckham, launched a solo career. She never felt comfortable. Even in the Spice Girls – it was great fun, she was in the world’s biggest group for two or three years, but she didn’t feel comfortable," he revealed.

Explaining that Victoria desperately hoped to establish herself in her own right, but struggled with performing, Simon continued: "She could sing pretty well, she could dance pretty well, but she always felt uncomfortable."

According to Simon, the now mum-of-four came to him for advice about her career path, and he swiftly pointed her in the right direction.

"It was one of those things that you get this kind of clarity of vision. I’ve known Victoria since she was 18 and her passion in life was always clothes," he said. "I said ‘You should be in fashion. You should be a designer’."

Heaping praise upon the 42-year-old star, Simon insisted Victoria has finally found her calling, saying: "She will be – without any doubt – one of the world’s greatest designers in the next few years.”

We're with him on that one.
