Kevin Clifton isn't holding his opinions back about his Strictly Come Dancing co-star AJ Pritchard, suggesting that the fellow professional dancer tried to steal Stacey Dooley for himself last year.

Appearing on a one-off Strictly special, which will air on Saturday night, Kevin speaks about the process of the dancers and contestants testing their compatibility with a 'speed dance'.

The dance features the celebrities and professionals dance briefly with each other, before they're placed in their various partnerships.

According to The Sun, Kevin claims he was ‘going for it’ with Stacey while they were dancing in a salsa circle, but AJ later swooped in and tried to pull Stacey away for a one-on-one talk.

"Last year with Stacey in the salsa circle, I was going for it… overdoing it," Kevin says.

"At one point, we were on a coffee break and AJ interrupted us in the middle of us talking and took her away," he added. "He wanted to get to know her and see what she was about."

"I was like, “It’s not Love Island mate!”‘ Kevin managed to fend off AJ's advances and he was picked to be Stacey's partner for last years show.

The duo went on to win the Glitterball trophy, before confirming their romance three months later following Stacey's split from ex-boyfriend Sam Tucknott.

The pair insist on remaining tight-lipped about their private life.

In an interview with The Guardian, Stacey said:

"Kev and I agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy. What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing. I’m happy, life happens. I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky."

Kevin is partnered with Anneka Rice on this year's Strictly, but was recently forced to deny claims that he’s "fuming" with the pairing and insisted he’s having a "wicked time" with Anneka in rehearsals.

Strictly Come Dancing winner Kevin Clifton is apparently 'fuming' over his partnership with 60-year-old TV veteran Anneka Rice, according to The Sun.

Show insiders claim that the Grimsby-born dancer sees his celebrity dance pairing as a 'punishment' from BBC bosses for his relationship with Stacey Dooley.

Kevin and now-girlfriend Stacey had chemistry to burn last year, going on to win the entire competition in December before going public with their romance in March.

Stacey had been in a long-term relationship while she was competing on the show, and both herself and Kevin deny that any romance sparked before they took home the Glitterball trophy.

36-year-old Kevin believes bosses are 'putting the boot in' for the media furore following their romance and says they've 'sabotaged his dream' of winning wo years in a row, a source told The Sun;

"Kevin has told pals he would have preferred someone like Catherine Tyldesley or Alex Scott. He calls himself King Kevin and wanted to make Strictly history by winning back to back titles."

They added; "But although Anneka is willing, her age and agility means he won’t be able to throw her around like he did previous partners."

Kevin and Anneka paired up on Saturday's launch, and The Challenge star admitted that she's never danced in public and was ruled out of a group dance after injuring herself during rehearsal.

The noticeable height difference between them was also commented on by viewers.

Kevin has a great track record on the massively popular BBC dance contest, making the finals with every partner except Susan Calman.

Himself and Susanna Reid came in second during their time on the show, followed by Frankie Bridge, Kellie Bright and runner-up Louise Redknapp.

Kevin came in seventh place when partnered with comedian Susan two years ago, before winning the show with Stacey Dooley in 2018.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton has revealed that he used alcohol to cope with his break-up from Karen Hauer, and received help from none other than Russell Brand.

The 36-year-old relied on Brand for support when he realised that his drinking had gone too far after he split from the fellow dancer last year.

Speaking on his podcast The Kevin Clifton Show, he said:

"I didn't know how to deal with it. It was affecting my work, it was affecting mine and Karen's relationship. I didn't know how to function as a person."

"It's as close as I can imagine to what might be like depression. I fell into a real tough spot. I started drinking a lot. I was going out and drinking all the time.

"I talked to some of the people on Strictly about it," he added. "I was constantly stressed out, constantly emotional, constantly sad. It got to a point, and then me and Karen ended up breaking up."

Russell has battled numerous addictions from alcohol to drugs, and reached out to Kevin when he saw he had a problem, advising him to quit booze for two months.

He said on his podcast: "My life over the past year has gone from darkness, despair and self hatred to everything going so much better.

"I'm so much happier now than I was a year ago." Kevin and Karen got married in 2015 but split up only three years later.

Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Clifton (née Hauer) has broken her silence about her ex-husband's relationship with Stacey Dooley.

Karen and Kevin split up in March of last year, but have remained on good terms ever since. The pair even work alongside one another as professional dancers on the BBC One show.

Karen opened up during an interview with FUBAR Radio about Kevin and Stacey's romance after the pair won the series in 2018.

Speaking about working with her ex, she said; "Most people think that we’d be like 'oh I don’t like it', but no. Not at all. We laugh. There is no drama. I don’t like drama baby llama! I’m happy, he’s happy, let’s all be happy!

"I’m so proud of him and all the things he’s been doing lately. For us, it’s never been a problem and it never will be a problem. We’re really cool."

32-year-old Stacey Dooley was dating Sam Tucknott throughout the 2018 competition, but the pair broke up shortly after she won. The journalist then began seeing her professional dance partner, Kevin.

Kevin Clifton and Karen wed in 2015, but she hasn't publicly commented on her ex's new romance until this week.

Stacey's ex-boyfriend, Sam, told The Sun Online that he accused Kevin of being a "rat" and a "snake" in a FaceTime video call after discovering he had been dating his ex.

He blames Kevin for his break-up with girlfriend-of-five-years Stacey, who he said he was planning to propose to.

The Strictly Come Dancing drama rages on.

The BBC show might not even be on TV at the moment but there is no shortage of controversy surrounding it.

Katya Jones, the pro dancer at the centre of the Seann Walsh scandal in the 2018 series, is now reportedly cut from the main line-up.

The 29-year-old dancer, who is married to fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones, was pictured looking downcast as she walked her dog after the news broke.

She appeared to slam the reports of her axing with a statement t-shirt that read, ''You only know my name, not my story''.

It was reported that Katya had been offered reduced role by BBC bosses in the wake of last series' controversy.

While she remains as part of the line-up it is uncertain if she will get a celebrity partner this year.

This news brings about doubts about fellow pro dance Kevin Clifton's part in the show.

He has been at the centre of his own media storm since his relationship with his celebrity partner, Stacey Dooley, was announced.

However, a BBC spokesperson has insisted Katya won't be treated any differently to Kevin.

The said, ''We wouldn't be treating her any differently to how we treated Kevin. It's not like he is guaranteed a celebrity partner this year.''

It looks like we'll have to watch this space and see the drama unfold – which we're not complaining about at all…

Strictly Come Dancing might be off the air but the drama keeps on giving.

It came as a huge surprise to many (and some, not) when the 2018 winner Stacey Dooley's boyfriend Sam Tucknott announced to the world that Stace had dumped him for her dance partner Kevin Clifton.

While many had speculated while they were on the show that Kevin had become fond of Stacey, it seemed like she was happy in her relationship with Sam.

The pair had been together five years and lived in their Brighton home – however, Sam has revealed that he knew something was off towards the latter part of the dance contest.

Sam told The Sun that before Christmas Stacey had joined Kevin for an evening out rather than him and that Christmas Day was strained and tense.

The pair agreed to call it a day in March but Sam saw a message from Kevin on Stacey's phone that showed that they were in a romantic relationship.

It read, ''I love you'' followed by a love heart.

Stacey reportedly told Sam, ''You saw I didn’t start entertaining and texting him (Kevin) until I split up with you. I was not with you when we started it all. I did fall for him but when we were done. I will tell you anything you want to know.”

Now the 32-year-old investigative journalist has taken to social media to set the record straight.

She wrote, ''Anyone with any adult life experience knows there are 2 sides to every story. I haven’t got the time or energy to correct some of the utter nonsense I’ve read on here.''

She continued, ''Re Sam, I loved him v much and only wish him happiness and success going forward."

Kevin has yet to comment on the situation but with this being the 15th couple to fall foul of the show’s curse, it looks like Strictly is getting a bigger reputation as a sort of celebrity Tinder rather than a dance competition.

Over the last couple of weeks, rumours around Joe and Dianne being a couple were swirling.

The looks of love were hard to hide between the dancing duo, and the public LOVED the idea of them being together.

Although they didn't claim the top spot – they did take most of the attention after the Strictly final.

Somewhat overshadowing the winners, Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton was confirmation that Joe and Dianne were, in fact, a couple.

To the nation's delight, our underdog hadn't walked away from the competition empty-handed.

He mightn't have claimed the trophy but Joe did find love.

But could he have waited at least a week to give everyone the much-needed nod that they had fallen for each other? – Yes.

It would have given Stacey her time to truly shine and full attention would have remained on her.

Don't get me wrong, I am delighted that Joe and Dianne are a couple.

They look so natural around each other that it was almost expected by 90 percent of the audience.

Just the timing of the announcement could have been made public down the line.

Joe took to Instagram and posted a sweet picture of the pair, confirming their romance.

He adorably wrote: "I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special."

I must admit that he's an actual dote and they're a lovely couple.

Just in hindsight they might regret confirming their news so soon after Stacey's win.

Strictly will be on our screens in the next week and the excitement for it's return is really ramping up.

Pro-dancer favourite Kevin ''from Grimsby'' Clifton has announced that he is taking on a new venture.

Any guesses as to what it is?

Kev is planning on launching a Strictly podcast – well, if his fans are interested, that is!

It was during a live broadcast that he let slip that he is really into podcasts, especially football ones.

He then asked for help in naming the podcast – so keeps your ears out for that.

In other Strictly news, Kevin has been defending the BBC's choice to sign up YouTuber Joe Sugg as a contestant for this year.

There were many disgruntled people complaining that Joe wasn't famous enough to earn a place on the hit show.

Kevin stepped in to back the Internet sensation, who has 8.2 million subscribers on his video channel.

"Why do they have to be on TV a lot to be well known. And YouTube is TV. Just a different screen. He will bring in new viewers that never would watch Strictly and would have no idea who any of us ballroom dancers are…" he said.

There was also people commenting on the fact that some contestants already have previous dance experience.

When contestant Ashley Roberts – a Pussycat Dolls singer, dancer and choreographer, was added to the line-up, Kevin responded with, ''there's always some with dance experience. She will be learning ballroom for the first time. I suck at tap for example. Also @bbcstrictly leaves it to the voter. You vote for your favourite, doesn't have to be the best dancer by the judges."

Go Kevin, you were always our fave.
