Darren commented: “I’m excited, petrified, terrified– I don’t know what I’ve got myself in for. It’s completely out of my comfort zone but ultimately I’m looking forward to it. Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne will join forces this year to present the new series of Dancing with the Stars.

Airing on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from Sunday, January 6, a total of 11 celebrities will pair up with their professional dancing partners as they step out of their comfort zones and onto the dancefloor, each hoping to claim the much-coveted glitter ball trophy at the end of the series.

Each pairing will have a different dancing genre to master every week from the paso doble to the waltz and they’ll have just seven days to perfect their routine before performing live to the nation.

Also returning this year is our expert panel of judges Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson. Once again the celebrities and their dancers will be scored by the judges and the viewing public at home.

And if that’s not enough for dancing fans out there, Can’t Stop Dancing, the preview show for Dancing with the Stars hosted by Bláthnaid Treacy will be back on Friday, January 4 on RTÉ One.  Each week Can’t Stop Dancing will go behind the scenes to capture all the glitz, glamour and gossip back stage and get the low down from the judges, the professional dancers and the stars.

Irish actress Evanna Lynch, known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter franchise, lost out in the US Dancing With The Stars final despite receiving a perfect score last night.

Despite missing out on the glitterball trophy, the 7-year-old actress received numerous special good luck messages from her former co-stars.

"Evanna, you are in the final! Can we just say this again? You are in the final. I am so proud of you. We love you. We are rooting for you. Kill it tonight, girl," Emma Watson shared in a video wishing her luck.

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, joked about their differing Hogwarts houses: "Despite all of our differences at Hogwarts, I want to wish you all the very best tonight!"

Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, Katie Leung, and Neville Longbottom himself Matthew Lewis all shared good luck messages to Evanna as she headed into the finals of the popular US dance show.

J.K. Rowling also cheered on the actress: “Best of luck, Evanna. Hope you win!” Rowling had been a huge support to Lynch during her adolescence.

Radio personality Bobby Bones was eventually crowned winner, each of the four contestants were tasked with performing two dances: Firstly their most memorable from the season, and then a freestyle performance.

Judge Bruno Tonioli  gave Evanna's dance with partner Keo Motsepe high praise, saying; "It was bright, it was colourful, it was quirky."

The duo received a 30 out of 30 for the dance, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to get Evanna the crown.

Could she not have just used her wand and chanted "Accio trophy" though?

Evanna had been the favourite to take the trophy, but either way, she did the Irish (and Gryffindor) proud on the stage.

Mischief managed, we say.

Harry Potter was a key part of our childhood.

Fond memories of awaiting the release of the movies or books that would open up a world of magic – gives us those nostalgic feels.

And for one of our all-time favourite characters, Luna Lovegood, played by Evanna Lynch, the series didn't just make her a household name, it changed her life.

The 27-year-old revealed how the franchise and in particular J.K. Rowling helped her through "a really difficult time” as she battled an eating disorder.

While making moves on Monday's Dancing with the Stars episode, the actress opened up about her most memorable year, 2006.

Evanna secured the role of Luna in January 2006 and she revealed that she was "the biggest fan" of Harry Potter.

“It was just my great love at that time. So then suddenly I was in the world, living the dream," she said.

“I just adored the Harry Potter franchise and Luna Lovegood was my favourite character, so it was just like a lot of things to process at once.”

Though the role was a huge deal for Evanna's career, Harry Potter meant so much more to her, as it offered a positive feeling through the darkness of an eating disorder.

“When I was like 11, 12, I was battling an eating disorder. Anyone who’s had an eating disorder knows it completely takes over your life,” she said.

And this is where the author came in to lend a hand, as the books were the only thing that could take Evanna's attention.

“I started writing to J.K. Rowling and she wrote back and we became pen friends after that,” said Lynch. “I was in and out of hospital and I would be getting these letters.”

The interaction with J.K. Rowling began to build up the actress' desire to fight.

The “books and her kindness really made me want to live again.”

“Being in Harry Potter changed my life because it proved to me that I could do something, that I had something to offer the world,” she added.

Now before you start with any speculation, Evanna made it clear that the author had no influence when she secured the role of Luna.

“We were pen pals. We were writing to each other for years, but then when the open audition happened, it happened within two weeks from the audition to getting the part and I didn’t have a chance to tell her,” she explained.

If you or a loved one are suffering from an eating disorder, there's a wealth of information here.

What an incredible story.

Frankie Muniz shot to fame in 2000 after landing his breakout role on the cult sitcom, Malcolm in the Middle.

Running for seven series, the show ceased production in 2006, and while filming would have taken up a huge chunk of Frankie's teenage years, the star recently revealed that he can hardly remember his time spent on set.

Currently competing in the US television show, Dancing with the Stars, the actor made the admission during a pre-performance VT, explaining how numerous concussions and several mini-strokes have caused his memories to become blurred.

“Most people would think that my most memorable year would be the year that Malcolm in the Middle started because it allowed me to live all these dreams of mine,” he said.

“I’ve gotten to really do anything I’ve wanted to do, but the truth is I don’t really remember much of that.

Frankie's Malcolm in the Middle co-star, Bryan Cranston, also appeared in the short clip with some heartwarming words of wisdom:

“Frankie was a TV star, then he became a race car driver, and then a drummer in a rock band. I said to him, ‘What are you going to be next, an astronaut?'"

"I told him not to worry about what you remember, what you don't remember. They are still your experiences."

"It'll be my job. I will tell him," he added.

Frankie is a fan favourite on this season of Dancing with the Stars, and he and his professional partner, Whitney Carson, have been impressing judges week on week.

RTÉ has responded to claims that Dancing With The Stars is rigged.

It was evident from Twitter that viewers weren't happy about Des Bishop being voted off last week – even though he received a higher vote from the judges than Teresa Mannion or Des Cahill.

This provoked suspicion in fans of the show and many made their voices heard on social media, saying that the dancing competition has to be a fix.

However, now RTÉ has responded to the claims, saying that they are further from the truth.

The network's producer Larry Bass told The Irish Sun: "The public voting system on our show is entirely fair.

"The same thing happens on this show around the world where people like Des, he might not be a great dancer, but gets votes because they are comical or entertaining.

"We don't give breakdowns on the voting as this information is commercially sensitive and may also have an impact on the voting patterns for the remaining shows.

"It works the same for Stricly on the BBC," he added.

You can catch the next episode of Dancing With The Stars tonight at 6.30pm.

We knew it would happen!

On Strictly Come Dancing over in the UK, it's safe to say all eyes are on the singletons to see who will hook up with who. And we have to say, it never disappoints.

But over on our green shores, it seems a new romance is brewing on Dancing with the Stars.

Irish model Thalia Heffernan is reportedly getting close to professional dancer Ryan McShane.

According to the Herald, the 21-year-old was spotted kissing the pro while out on Sunday night together.

A source told the publication: "It's a really young cast among the professional dancers and everyone's up for having a laugh during their time off in Dublin.

A photo posted by Ryan Mc Shane (@ryan_mc_s) on

"Everyone's off on Mondays, so they've started going in to Krystle after the show."

The insider continued: "Everyone noticed that Thalia and Ryan have got close in recent weeks and always have a great laugh together.

"They all had a great night out in Krystle last Sunday, and at one point Thalia and Ryan were seen sharing a kiss in a corner of the club, so it's kind of an open secret now among the cast and crew.

"They're both single and just enjoying each other's company," the source added.

Hughie Maughan caused quite a reaction when his faux glow went a step too far on Dancing With the Stars.

The Ballymun man has been a lover of fake tan for years, but showcased a distinctly mahogany brown shade on the show's most recent episode.

After laughing off the accidental tanning escapade, Hughie has been forced to respond to accusations of racism after some saw his perma-tanned visage as black face.

"Can't believe Ive been receiving death threats this week because of the tan .. my God how am I racist for a tan mistake," the Big Brother star Tweeter earlier today.

“What idiots are people to accuse me of racism get a grip.. the tan turned out darker than planned but at least it’s funny and people spoke."

The 21-year-old set tongues wagging with his bronzed appearance, but most viewers seemed to find the tan funny rather than offensive.

"It was hilarious Hughie, made everyone smile and sure isn't that what we all need," said one fake tan fan.

"Is Hughie dancing the Tango tonight?" joked another.

The show will continue this weekend, where viewers will watch the show’s first live elimination as the 11 competing celebrities all vie for a place to stay in the hit RTE programme.
