dancing with the stars

Former Big Brother participant Hughie Maughan certainly knows how to get people talking.

He captured the attention of the internet last night – but upon closer inspection it seems that Hughie's unique mahogany hue may not be so outrageous, after all.

Indeed, several famous faces have too displayed distinctly tango shading at times:

1. Rylan Clarke

2. Dale Winton

3. Donald Trump

4. Valentino

5. Ross Gellar (David Schwimmer)

6. George Hamilton

We think he should lay off the bronzer for a while – LOL.

Comedian Des Bishop has been confirmed to take part in Dancing with the Stars.

He revealed on last night's Late Late Show that he is one of the 11 celebrities set to star in the show this coming January.

The official Dancing With The Stars Instagram account posted a "guess who?" snap of the blurred-out comedian yesterday, asking social media users to guess what star was shown.

"I absolutely cannot wait for January, I can't think of a better way to spend the next few months," said the comedian.

"At my age, to learn something completely new such as ballroom dancing is an amazing opportunity."

"I mean I wasn't actually a big watcher of the show but when I got asked to do it, I'm totally into it," Des admitted.

"All morning I'm learning my dance moves, I'm obsessed with my dance moves."

Earlier this week, Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne were confirmed to present the first series. We can't wait for January!

Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram have been picked to host the show, with Blathnaid Tracey taking over the spin-off series, Can't Stop Dancing.

The competition's Instagram page shared a photo earlier of a male contestant on a green screen, but because it's so blurry we can't really make it out.

Some have guessed that it could be Anton Savage, Brian Kennedy or Joe Duffy.

What do you think?

We have to say we're kinda excited about the Irish version of Dancing With The Stars.

Kicking off on January 8 – just in time for sober nights in – after oodles of speculation it has just now been confirmed that Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne WILL act as hosts.

With a total of 11 celebrities waltzing their way into the nation’s living rooms as they battle it out for the coveted glitterball trophy, Amanda declared this afternoon: “I am thrilled to be working on DWTS.

"For years I have been looking for the right project to bring me back to Irish TV and as soon as I was offered the role I didn't hesitate. The team and I are looking forward to entertaining the nation by combining a much loved format with a uniquely Irish spin.”

Meanwhile, 2FM presenter Nicky Byrne is of course no stranger to the ballroom having donned his dancing shoes for the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing where he made it to week ten alongside his partner Karen Clifton.

Nicky stated today: "I am absolutely thrilled to be to be co-hosting Dancing With The Stars. Having been a contestant on the UK show, I know only too well that there is simply no other show like it on TV.

"I am ready and delighted to dust off my Cuban heels and work with Amanda, the judges and all the celebs, in what I believe will be an incredibly exciting show for Irish TV".

The show will air on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from 6.30pm Sunday January 8.

The celebrity contestants be the scored by an expert panel of judges and the viewing public at home. All the contestants will be safe for the first two shows, but after that one dancer and their partner will leave the competition each week.

When a TV show comes over to the Irish, it's fair to say we put our hearts and souls into it.

Sure, just look at the Irish Gogglebox and First Dates – they're both brilliant and hilarious.

However, when we heard that Dancing With The Stars is coming to RTÉ next year, it's safe to say we had our reservations, because… well, dancing.

With rumours going around that the full line-up for DWTS will be released next week, an inside source let a few things slip to the Irish Daily Mail.

We already know that Amanda Byram is set to host the show, with Blathnaid Treacy taking over the Friday spin-off show.

But some of the contestants are rumoured to be top model Thalia Heffernan, comedic genius Des Bishop and everyone's favourite weather woman, Teresa Mannion.

The source told the paper: “All the stars and their dancers met up and had a sort of get-together lunch in town last week. They all got on really well and they are all rehearsing around the clock with their partners.

“There is a really good mix and we know that the GAA pulling power of Aidan O’Mahony will be a big hit – as will hopefully Des Bishop, who has a big national following.

“The full line-up will be released to the public next week, and there could be an appearance on a weekend chat show. That’s all I can say.”

We're looking forward to seeing who made the cut!

It's only been four years since One Tree Hill went off the air, but we still hold the memories close to our hearts.

And it seems the same can be said for former cast member Jana Kramer who played Alex in the hit series.

She's currently taking part in Dancing With the Stars, and last night whipped out the song that we hold dear, I Don't Want to Be.

To make it even better, Gavin DeGraw performed it live on the show. We also have to give props to Jana, because she even danced with an injury.

"I went to the doctors and found out that I have torn muscles in between my ribs. The doctor says I shouldn't dance," she told the judges.

"I don't want to leave the second weekend."

As the Voice of Ireland has been cancelled to make way for the new Dancing with the Stars, Bressie has revealed that he'd done with TV shows.

When asked by the Irish Mirror if he’d take part in RTÉ's Dancing With The Stars, The Blizzards frontman said, "100 percent done with those TV shows – I am out.”

“I cannot dance to save my life. I am pathetic. I have two left feet. I am so bad. I am not a dancer and I will not be on the Irish Strictly,” he told the paper.

The Voice was huge for me but I’m glad it’s over and it came to an end when it was doing well. It’s the right time,” he said.

Ah, never say never Bressie!

When the news came out last week that Dancing with the Stars is going to take over The Voice of Ireland, many were surprised and wondered what would happen to the judges and presenters.

Will they move on? Will they just hop over to the new TV show?

Well, Bressie cleared up some rumours on Twitter yesterday, which didn't exactly make his fans happy.

He wrote: "Those asking will I be appearing on new @rte dancing show, I am afraid RTÉ can't get the adequate insurance to allow me dance in public."

Let's just hope RTÉ can sort out their insurance problem because it would certainly be a sight to see.

Twerk, Bressie!

When RTE announced yesterday that Ireland will be getting its own version of Dancing with the Stars, people quickly began to speculate that The Voice of Ireland could be getting the chop.

And unfortunately for lovers of the popular talent show, that indeed seems to be the case.

According to The Irish Mirror, The Voice of Ireland will be scrapped after five seasons to make way for the world famous dancing competition.

Channel Controller for RTE One and RTE2 Adrian Lynch said: “After five hugely successful seasons of The Voice of Ireland now is a perfect time to refresh the Sunday evening entertainment slot with one of the world’s best-loved formats.”

“We want to thank everyone involved in The Voice of Ireland for their incredible hard work over the past five years in the making the show such a success.”

The Irish version of Dancing with the Stars will document 11 celebrities as they learn to move like professional ballroom dancers and will air on RTE in early 2017.

Yes, it’s all official; after been licensed to more than 50 countries including South Africa, India, New Zealand, Colombia and the US… it's finally our turn to welcome Dancing with the Stars.

Some 11 famous celebrities will soon be paired off with professional ballroom dancers – and we can’t wait to see who the well-known faces are.

RTÉ confirmed this evening in a statement that the show will air in early 2017.

The national broadcaster said: “We are delighted to be bringing such a hugely popular format as Dancing With The Stars to RTÉ One. The show has been a global phenomenon, attracting huge audiences wherever it has aired and we are confident that Irish audiences will take this home-grown version to their hearts.”

A further statement added: “We’re thrilled that RTÉ will be airing Dancing With The Stars, as this format is loved all across the world. We continue to get such great feedback from every country where it airs, so we can’t wait to see how the Irish audience respond to it.”

Since the broadcaster's announcement, people have flocked to social media to ponder who will take part on the show with Twink, Linda Martin and Teresa Mannion all taking the top spot.

It has also been widely assumed that Dancing with the Stars will replace The Voice of Ireland, and the show's presenters, Kathryn Thomas and Eoghan McDermott, will swiftly jump to the dancing ship.

Now that Scott Disick seems to be back in good health, there's nothing stopping him taking on new endeavours.

But, one thing we didn't see coming was Scott taking part in Dancing With The Stars.

The father-of-three has taken a keen interest in the show this year, but he won't be dancing the rumba for less than $500k (€450k).

He was first offered $125k (€110k) as a guarantee and if he made it to the finals he'd get $345k (€310k), but Mr Disick isn't budging.

Sources told TMZ that there is a strict policy to pay everyone the same amount of moola, but Scott is fighting to get his amount majorly bumped up.

We can only imagine what he'll be like on the show, but one thing's for sure, it'll make for good TV.

The daughter of the much-loved Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, Bindi, is someone which we apparently all need in our lives.

So says her dance partner for the reality competition Dancing With The Stars. 17-year old Bindi has been paired up with 30-year old dancer Derek Hough.

“I was thinking maybe it's because she's connected to nature and the animals or something. And if you're that connected, you feel whole I guess.”

Bindi meanwhile has admitted that she think dancing in front of a panel of celebrity judges with be “more terrifying than jumping on top of a crocodile.”

Saying that crocodiles are what she has worked with her whole life, she says dancing will be nerve wracking as she’s “never danced before in my life.”

She certainly seems to have won her partner over regardless as he told the press “I love her. She’s amazing.”
