cute cats

Cats have a bit of a bad reputation around Christmas time, mostly for pulling down Christmas trees in the pursuit of playing with the shiniest baubles.

However, these festive felines clearly love the winter season, and are giving us all the feels over on Instagram.

1. This little guy looks better than we do in most of our selfies. *sigh

2. We're not sure if that cat is off to a rave or Christmas dinner, but either way he looks cute AF.

3. This little elf doesn't look too thrilled with his festive head-gear.

9. None of us will ever be as fancy or as well groomed as this beauty. That bell. That ribbon. Such class and elegance.

10. This cat could literally be at London Fashion Week with that grunge-inspired outfit. We're loving the festive red fur.

The world turned to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London as Swedish prosecutors interviewed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange over an alleged rape accusation dating back six years.

Assange has sought asylum in the embassy since June 2012.

While Assange may have drawn the crowds, the photographers turned their attention to another member of the Assange clan.

Appearing in the embassy window, Assange's cat looked inquisitively down at the hoards in a jewelled collar.

After posing for a few photographs, the cat seemed to grow tired of his moment in the spotlight, and disappeared from view.

In a bizarre twist, the cat later reappeared, this time wearing a collar and tie.

Looking extremely dapper in his red and white striped tie, the cat drew laughs from the crowd as it surveyed the commotion outside.

The cat in question is called Embassy Cat, and has his very own Twitter page with a following of over 24,000.

Clearly, computer genius Assange is bored, after having his internet privileges removed from him by the embassy in October.

Assange continues to face questioning over the alleged sexual assault but has not been charged with the crime.
