Downtown Abbey actress, Daisy Lewis, has taken to Twitter in recent days in order to express her distaste over remarks made about her in a feature in Tatler magazine.

In the November issue of the publication,  the magazine wrote: "As Daisy is quite small, you might be tricked into believing she's quiet. LOL. She isn't. This actress is loud. Which makes her fun at a party. And in bed. Probably."

Sharing an image of the offending caption, the actress, who plays Sarah Bunting in the drama, admitted she was left stunned by the misogyny at play in the piece.

"I'm really shocked and upset by this. But thankfully I'm 'loud' enough to say it. Does anyone at Tatler read the news?" she asked in a tweet which has amassed almost 8,000 likes.

While Tatler subsequently apologised to the actress in light of her tweet, Daisy went on to tell The Huffington Post that her inclusion in a feature entitled Little Black Book, which purports to showcase the smartest, sexiest singles on the planet, left her cold.

"I know the girls who wrote it," she said. "The fact that it's women writing that about other women is what upset me the most, really. And to think that is was funny. I genuinely believe that the people who wrote it thought I would be pleased."

"That's what makes me so sad, that they thought I would have been pleased to be included on a list of eligible – and for eligible to mean marriageable – people, as a sort of catalogue. It feels like being part of a horse trade show or something."

Members of the public have responded to Daisy's tweet in their droves, with one writing: "It's utterly appalling isn't it? Even in today's world this is still startlingly misogynistic."

"This is sickening," added another. "Whoever wrote that should be sacked along w/ the editor that approved it. Sorry they tried to reduce you in such a manner."

Though it makes us feel VERY old to admit it, Victoria and David Beckham's eldest son is now the ripe old age of 16.

The teen celebrated his birthday in March, and now that he's slowly approaching adulthood, one UK magazine has made him their flavour of the month.

Tatler has come under fire today for an article describing the famous teen as "hot, ready and legal" and calling him "pure, compelling social catnip."

The magazine's take on Brooklyn has been called "creepy" and "perverted" by angry readers.

"If you can't date him, get your daughter to date him," concludes the article.

"Pretty grossed out by @TatlerUK's piece on Brooklyn Beckham," wrote one reader, with another calling it "deeply unsettling."

Others pointed out that the piece would never have been published if Brooklyn was a 16-year-old girl.

Here are a few of the reactions so far:

What do you think of the outrage?
