Who doesn’t love getting their nails done? It’s one of life’s simple pleasures that we just really enjoy. What we don’t enjoy however, is that sometimes it leaves some not so fun after effects.

We take lots of precautions for our skin and our hair when it comes to tanning and dying, so why should our nails be any different?

We gathered up a few straightforward tips for you to ensure that the next time you’re getting your favourite manicure, you’re not doing any unnecessary damage to your nails.

Go for LED not UV

Long term exposure to UV rays is bad for your skin leading to premature aging and spotting. Do a Google search and check if your favourite salon offers an LED light to avoid leaving the salon with hands old before your years.

Soak it off, don't peel.

Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as Taylor’s catching jingle, we know. Peeling off chipped polish can be satisfying, like popping bubble wrap (which is soon going to be taken from us, devastated). But you’re risking exposing your nails to some gross bacteria. So try avoid it where possible.

Try a nail wrap instead

They provide an extra layer of protection for your nails, and you have countless customised wraps to choose from. Also, if these babies are salon applied, they can last for quite a long time. Also, they tend to be a little cheaper than other options.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder

It’s probably not what you want to hear, because we do all love to treat ourselves to a sweet manicure from time to time. However, going overboard on the nail art is apparently not so good for you. Your nails need a break from time to time. Then when you head back the salon, your healthy nails will be absolutely flawless.

Just because you only own a hair straightener doesn’t mean you’re stuck with one style forever. It’s not news that you can curl your hair with you beloved straighteners. It can however, be easier said than done.

At SHEmazing we are all about tricks to make our daily hair routine just that little bit faster and easier.

So we gathered up a few handy tricks that anyone who owns a straightener can make use of, because there is more to life than hair, but hair full of volume is a great place to start.

Before you do anything, invest in a good heat protectant to keep your hair healthy before you battle the heat.

Speaking of, if you can, make sure your straightener is set below 185 degrees, especially if you have fine hair.Otherwise your hair can burn, and we all remember this incident:

When it comes to the hair at the crown of your head, straighten it in an upwards direction for some volume.

Embrace the volume even more and use your straightener to curl your hair. It takes practice, we tried this excellent tutorial.

Miss the retro crimping style? Braid your hair, then straighten it for that crimped effect.

Not just for hair, you can also use it iron a collar (or sleeves) if you’re really stuck.

It’s not all fabulous ball gowns and handsome princes, we understand the life of the Disney princess can be little bit, strange.

Comedian Amy Schumer has recently come out as saying maybe we shouldn’t look up to these fictional ladies as much as we do.

However, you cannot deny that the Disney princess squad have got the best hair. They just do. For decades they’ve been leaving us envious and frankly, a little confused. How does one master Belle’s perfectly “messy” romantic ponytail without looking like you just rolled out of bed?

A total life overhaul isn’t always needed to boost your mental and physical health. Little tweaks to how you go about your daily business can have a more significant effect that you might think.

Try our life hacks to help you along the way!

1. Drink a glass of warm water and lemon every morning
This is a much easier, cheaper and healthier alternative to tea or coffee that will still leave you feeling energised and ready to face the day. Not only that but lemons contain potassium and Vitamin C which are essential immune boosters.

2. Work out in the morning if you can
A morning workout is easier to fit around your day and you’ll have your evenings free. Also, with the endorphin kick and increased metabolic rate that comes with exercise, you’ll be raring to go all day!

3. Eat an orange before you exercise
Oranges are a healthy but quick energy source that’ll keep you buzzing during your workout. You’ll stay hydrated – and the potassium will help with muscle soreness afterwards.

4. Eat the healthiest food on your plate first
Those potato wedges might be staring you in the face but by eating the healthier elements on your plate first, you’re less likely to overeat what’s left on your plate.

5. Eat from smaller plates
It might be a visual thing, but you’ll notice it affects your eating habits. You’re far less likely to pile on a second helping when your plate is already full.

6. Take a cold shower every once in a while
Not only does a cold shower wake you up, it closes pores and boosts circulation. Just make sure that you have a lovely fluffy towel to warm up with afterwards!

7. Turn up the music!
Louder music has been proven to increase feelings of relaxation and happiness more than music played at a lower volume. So throw on some Taylor Swift and have a bop around!

Life is a constant set of trials and challenges. “Should I eat that plastic wrapper? Do I need to stick my finger in this piece of machinery?” There’s really no way to know, or is there?

Here are 13 of the most stupidly obvious instructions ever printed courtesy of College Humor … But obviously they were needed! Which worries me…
