Dating can be daunting and nerve-racking at the best of times – but what are just five words that would have you running out the restaurant door?

Last night, #FiveWordsToRuinADate, a hashtag started on Rick O’Shea’s 2FM show, began to trend not only in Ireland, but worldwide.

Lots of famous brands joined in on the hashtag, with Domino’s #FiveWordsToRuinADate being “I ate all the pizza” and Aldi’s “I don’t shop at Aldi” being two of just many.

Some of our favourite ones include, “How is your happy meal?” and “Want to see a body” made us feel infinitely better about our dating life.

Here are some of the hilarious submissions of #FiveWordstoRuinADate that will make you laugh:

We think it's safe to say ALL of these would have us running out the door… What are your #FiveWordsToRuinADate?

First impressions count, and so it's only natural that we'd want to put our best face forward on a date with a new man.

What that usually amounts to though, is thinking before we speak… god forbid we'd be ourselves on a first date!

The folks over at Buzzfeed have made this hilarious video documenting what we'd all be saying if we really COULD speak our minds during that first rendezvous.

"This food is making me gassy – unfortunately for you 'cos I was gonna put out…" Yup, sounds about right!

First dates are nerve wracking, which can play havoc with your ability to remember the most basic things. If you’re meeting some handsome man for the first time this weekend, and you’re feeling like you’re going to forget something in the midst of the excitement, don’t worry. We’ve done the thinking for you! Here are five things you need to make sure you have in your bag when you head out the door:

Your ID
Can you imagine arriving at the bar with your date and being refused because they think you’re under 18? Avoid this situation, and just bring your ID!

Money
Us ladies can’t expect men to pay for us all the time anymore. Have some cash on you – who knows, you might need it to make a break for it in a taxi!

Lip balm
Because if you’re nervous, your lips and mouth may dry up, and you don’t want to spend all night licking them. That just looks kind of weird.

Make-up
Just incase you think you need a top up during the night, better safe than sorry!

Your phone
Imagine you forgot your phone, and couldn’t fake a phone call from a friend telling you that you had to get home NOW in a bid to escape an awful date? Do not forget this one!

Deodorant and perfume
If you had to run for the bus, or you’re just sweating from the nerves, you may find yourself in need of a quick spritz.

Mints
So you have nice, fresh breath for the goodnight kiss, obviously!

According to a recent survey, women are apparently more confident when it comes to dating than men.

The dating website, Elite Singles, has revealed that the 71% of women they had surveyed felt a lot more confident at dating, compared to their male counterparts.

It doesn’t stop there however, the survey went on to state that 82% of women felt they were able to make a great first impression when it comes to dating in general.

Women aren’t the only ones oozing with confidence, as 70% of men surveyed revealed they felt they were well received by most of the women they went on the date with.

But women seem to be the ones in control, when it comes to deciding if there will be a second date or not.

As 71% of women revealed that they felt it was up to them if they wanted a second date, while this decision only seemed to apply to 46% of men.

Do you agree with the results? Are women really the ones in control when it comes to the dating scene?

They say first impressions count for everything, but now a new study has claimed that it only takes 12 minutes for your crush to decide if there’ll be a second date!

You might spend hours getting ready, but a survey carried out on 2,000 singletons claims that it is those first crucial moments that can make or break a potential romance.

In short, you need to make a good impression, and fast. Eek!

So how do you secure that second date in under 15 minutes?

1.  Do make eye contact, smile and really focus on what he’s saying. These are all ways to make a lasting first impression.

2.  Don’t ask too many questions. A recent study found that the more questions speed daters posed to each other, the less connected they felt. So ditch the mental checklist and let the conversation flow naturally instead.

3.  Do check in with yourself. It’s easy to get so caught up in wondering how you’re coming across on a date that you forget to ask yourself if you’re interested in the person across the table. Don’t let those first 12 minutes go by without actually assessing your own level of interest.

4.  Don’t take a smoke break. A recent survey found that smoking on a date was a bigger deal breaker than checking your phone or showing up late.

5. Do stay away from risky topics. That includes any mention of your ex, politics or your favourite sexual position!

Don’t use too much of anything (even if you love your blusher).
The last thing you want is your date to think that you got into a fight with your make-up bag. Less is always more ladies.

Do go for a simple hairstyle.
A side plait or a flirty ponytail can do wonders. If you want nice and relaxed look, then leave your hair down.

Don’t chance your arm.
You might want to do something a little bit special and experiment with new make-up, but let’s just keep the experimenting for a night out with the girls…

Do opt for a natural lip color.
Peach and pale pinks will make you look natural and approachable.

Don’t overdo it with the perfume.
Choose something that’s flirty and lightly scented.

Do carry some blotting paper with you in case your oil glands start acting up.
‘The Greasy One’ isn’t the nickname you want to be remembered by.

Cher from Clueless taught us we should draw attention to our mouths to get a boy’s attention, but digging spinach out of your teeth is hardly what she meant.

Here are a few foods you should avoid eating on your first date:

Garlic: Unless you want your night to end with a friendly hug, steer clear of garlic – at all costs.

Spaghetti: There really is no way to eat spaghetti in an elegant way. Skip the spaghetti and go for the spuds.

Ribs or chicken wings:  You don’t want to be remembered as the one who kept licking her fingers– not the best first impression to make.

Oysters:  Yes, they’re an aphrodisiac, but is that really more important than performing a slurping ceremony for your date?

Spicy foods: If you can’t handle it, don’t try to impress him and tell him you can. You might just end up with a beetroot face
