As awards season heats up, we’ve taken a look at the BAFTA nominations, which came out earlier today.

Some of this year’s hottest films feature prominently, such as Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, Philomena and American Hustle.

The movie with the most nominations – eleven overall, including Best Film, Original Music and Original Screenplay – was Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney (can they please just get married already?)

Philomena, a heart-wrenching story based on the tragic tale of Irish woman Philomena Lee has received great attention in the movie world following its release earlier this year. It stars Judi Dench as Philomena and Steve Coogan (who wrote the screenplay) as journalist Martin Sixsmith.

Dench is up for the Leading Actress BAFTA alongside Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Emma Thompson.

American Hustle is also set to make a rumble this awards season. The movie boasts an impressive cast of Christian Bale, Amy Adams and of course, the wonderful Jennifer Lawrence.

Elle magazine have landed themselves in hot water this week after the release of their “Women in TV” special edition. Each edition features a different female face from TV, including Girls star Alison Williams, Parks and Recreation‘s Amy Poehler, The Mindy Project‘s Mindy Kaling and New Girl, Zooey Deschanel.

It seems that many people have taken offence to the fact that Mindy’s cover is the only one of the four that is not full length and is the only one that is in black and white, leading people to call Elle “fat-ists”.

Whilst many people seem to think that Elle had intentionally hidden Mindy’s body from the shot, it would seem both the magazine and Mindy herself, disagree.

Speaking to E! online, Elle called their cover “sexy, beautiful and chic” and Mindy took to twitter to voice her own opinion on the matter; “I love my @ELLEmagazine cover. It made me feel glamorous & cool”.

Despite having only welcomed first daughter North into the world back in June, it seems Kim Kardashian is well on her way to regaining her pre-pregnancy figure.

The new mother posted this picture of herself alongside friend Blac Chyna on her Instagram account on Saturday and Kim’s most famous asset (we couldn’t resist) is the main feature of the photo.

Kanye West’s fiance  has talked about the difficulty she had losing her baby weight and discussed it frequently throughout the last series of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Kim also revealed her sensitivity towards the media’s constant berating and judgement of her body.

Well Kim, in our opinion, you look healthy, happy and absolutely SHEmazing…see what we did there?

Moving can seem like one of the most hectic things to do, especially around this time of year.

If you’re planning to downsize for the New Year and you’re looking for easy ways to do so, follow the tips below:

Assess your needs
Humans have a natural instinct to get attached. Whether it’s to people or things, letting go is never easy. But if you want to make moving easier, just leave behind the things you really don’t need.

Go through every single cabinet
This way you won’t move into your new place without those special treasures you kept hidden away.

Measure your furniture
The last thing you want is to end up with a bed that just won’t fit into your new room – that just means more work for you.

Sell your things
Charity is never a bad idea, but if you want to earn a few bobs to pay for moving boxes, you could always sell some items. You might even come across clothes that still have tags on them.

Move the heavy things first
Get the hard stuff out of the house first so this way you will have a better idea of where to put the smaller things.

Leonardo Di Caprio has revealed that he was nearly attacked by a great white shark during an underwater expedition in 2006.

The incident occurred when Di Caprio was filming for the movie Blood Diamond in Cape Town, South Africa.

Revealing all to Ellen De Generes, Leo said, “I had a huge fear of sharks and when I did Blood Diamond in 2006 I actually got stuck in a cage with a great white, which was awesome”.

The actor, who is currently promoting the highly anticipated The Wolf of Wall Street, explained just how he survived the ordeal; “It went into the cage with me and half of its body was in and out. And I flattened down at the bottom and it was this far away and it chomped a few times. But I survived it.”

And we’re very glad you did.

A number of special guests who turned out for the opening of the G’Day USA celebration were delighted when Kylie Minogue took to the stage and performed yesterday evening.

Singing a number of her best hits including “Can’t get you out of my head,” the demure star looked stunning.

Is she even aging at all? It would seem not.

Among the Australian celebrities and VIP’s were cast members from TV show Modern Family. Eric Stonesteet (Cam), Ariel Winter (Alex), Ty Burrell (Mitch) and little cutie Nolan Gould (Luke) sat in the audience as news broke that there is to be an episode of Modern Family filmed in Sydney this year, as confirmed by the show’s co-creator, Steve Levitan.

Clearly excited at the prospect of such a great location for the annual vacation episode, Levitan says; “We promise to feature a kangaroo, a koala and a boomerang. I’m sure there will be lots more, but so far that’s all we know about Australia – our American school system is a disaster. So we thank Qantas for this amazing opportunity to broaden our horizons.”

Well this is a surprising turn of events!

It has been reported than none other than Victoria Beckham has expressed an interest in landing a guest spot on Lena Dunham’s Girls.

And according to Lena, the prospect may not just be a pipe dream of Ms Posh Spice herself.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, the genius behind Girls explained; “I’d love to see Victoria Beckham, like, dress it down a little bit, I love her; she’s very chic and nice.”

Well Lena, if anybody has the power to prise the Louboutins and oversize sunnies from Victoria’s hands, we reckon it’s you. We would LOVE to see Victoria dressed down and au naturel, so here’s hoping it happens!

Victoria Beckham isn’t the only fashion icon that is expected to make a cameo on the show; it was also revealed the president of fashion label J.Crew, Jenna Lyons, is also set to hit our screen on the hit HBO show.

Catch the new series of Girls from the 18th January on Sky Atlantic.

This beautiful piece, written and performed by Neil Hilborn, is one of the most touching and heart-wrenching videos from last year.

The poem showcases the pain and hurt caused by the difficulty of living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and how it has interfered in his love life.

We’ve all heard about the negative effects of smoking and passive smoking; most notably, the development of cancer.

Passive smoking has always been considered to be just as bad as actual smoking, which has been a driving force in bringing in smoking bans.

However, it’s been revealed that evidence claiming passive smoking is dangerous is actually inconsistent.

Nearly ten years after Ireland introduced the first workplace smoking ban, the latest report on the lung cancer risks of passive smoking contradict previous research.

Apparently, “exposure to passive smoking overall, and to most individual categories of passive smoking, did not significantly increase lung-cancer risk.”

However, if you live with a smoker, you may be in trouble as the report “shows a trend of increased risk was living in the same house with a smoker for 30 years or more”.
