Calling it a ‘diary’ is probably a bit of a stretch. I’m no Anne Frank; I was never organised or committed enough to keep a proper diary. Most of my writing as a teenager was sporadic scribbling on bits of paper or copybooks at moments of extreme frustration. I may not have been orderly about it, but my method makes any entries more interesting to read now.

Reading back over one A4 pad in particular is both enlightening and cringe-worthy and there are parts that really struck me while reading through it. Over a decade later, I was right back in my teenage skin, feeling confused, detached, frustrated and ugly all over again. I won’t share this whole entry or I will die of shame, but I will share some particularly embarrassing excerpts that I feel we can all identify with…

1. On my friends’ unhealthy obsession with designer labels

“They need badly to wake up and realise how many kids they could feed with the price of their gear. It’s also very pretentious. They all exaggerate about their bags… I’m always told not to bother my head about them, but the point is, I do, because it’s so hard not to.

Wow. I fancied myself as a bit of a Bob Geldof, it seems! In all seriousness, though, I’m glad I could see through all of this at that age – there is certainly more to life than designer labels. Oh, and for the record, ‘they’ totally did exaggerate about their bags and I am quite sure that they were all knock-offs.

2. On my hopes for the future

“I hope I have my own individual styles and tastes but it can be hard when you’re 14 and everyone’s trying to put you in a box – friends especially. When I’m older I’ll be nobody but myself. I’ll have a totally independent lifestyle and guys will like me for me. I hope.”

Talk about melodramatic. Although I did always have a strong personality, I definitely felt tugged in a few different directions at that age. Thankfully I am very much myself now; I like what I like, I don’t chase trends to a silly extent, and my boyfriend appreciates that – I think!

3. On my love life

“I LOVE X. I hope I never look back on this and cringe because I just wanna stay with him forever”.

Do I even need to discuss this?! I was basically a child. Needless to say, ‘he’ is but a distant memory. It’s amazing the strength at which emotions are felt when you’re a teenager.

You couldn’t pay me to return to this age, and I suppose the moral of this story is that growing up is hard, and that things always do get better. It does make me smile to think that if 14-year-old me could see herself in 2014, she’d be fairly happy, and perhaps a little more positive.

Some weekends are ALL about the sleep, while other weekends are ALL about the session, but some can be well-balanced and just…well, perfect!

It’s all about dividing your time wisely and making the most of the things you choose to do. Why not make this weekend one of those stand-out classics?

Pamper yourself!
Whether that means an all-over-body beautification on Friday night or an hour nursing a hot chocolate with your latest read on Sunday afternoon, devote time to YOU, and only you.

Sweat!
Whether you choose to hit the gym for a forty minute cardio session, take to the streets for a jog or fall around the living room to Davina’s DVD, just get those endorphins flowing and that sweat pumping. Remember; if you still look cute at the end of your work-out, you didn’t work hard enough!

Socialise!
See a group of friends, meet that one mate you haven’t caught up with in a while or enjoy a romantic date night with your other half. Unwind, laugh and enjoy the company of the people who see you through the monotony of the working week with cute texts and funny snap chats!

Eat!
Well, obviously! But what we really mean is eat WELL and no we’re not suggesting a carb- free weekend or anything! Far from it, actually. Eat at least one thing you truly LOVE at the weekend, whether that’s a massive salad or a pecan slice, treat yourself, you earned it!

Look to the future!
It could be as little as buying new tights and underwear for the week ahead (nothing better than the comfort of new socks on a miserable Monday morning!) or as big as enrolling in a language course; just do something the future you will thank you for.

At the end of a long week, the thought of trying to incorporate all of the above into two days seems like a serious challenge, but give it a shot.

By Sunday night, you’ll find you’ve packed so much more into your weekend than you thought possible and will feel all the more fabulous for it too! Just don’t boast about it too much in the office on Monday, don’t be THAT girl.

Uh oh, something tells us Chrissy Teigen is going to be in big trouble with her husband John Legend after she posted a raunchy photo!

The model shared a photo of her husband in the shower with her one million followers, with his modesty covered only by a towel. And we can totally see his bum.

hehehe

A photo posted by @chrissyteigen on

Naughty Chrissy captioned the rather hilarious image: “hehehe” – we reckon she knew he mightn’t be too happy about it…

The photo has delighted her followers (naturally) but we’re not so sure John will be very impressed to have his shower photo splashed all over the internet.

Let’s just say if our other halves did this, we would be hella mad!

Have you ever bought a skincare product that promises to give you beautiful skin and fix all your skin problems but when you try it you find that really it does nothing? This is a common complaint when you buy products from department stores, even if the product or skincare line has a hefty price tag!

The truth is that a lot of skincare products on the market simply cannot change or improve your skin because they contain low doses of corrective ingredients. In fact, the dosage is so low that these products do not even need to be FDA approved because they are not going to make any change to the skin.

If a product is going to enter your skin cells and change your skin it has to be FDA approved.

zo_skincareThis is where ZO Skin Health and ZO Medical come in. This skincare is for people who want more than just a cream that smells nice, it’s for people who want to see results.

ZO is an FDA approved skincare line which contains high concentrations of corrective ingredients. These products can reverse the ageing process and correct your DNA to give skin that is healthy.

ZO defines truly healthy skin as:

Smooth
Strong
Firm
Even toned
Hydrated
No disorders

At ClearSkin Skin and Laser Clinic, they truly believe in the power of ZO, and use the products themselves so have seen first-hand how they can improve and change skin. This skincare line really works.

There is bad news for Lily Allen this week after it was revealed her record label has gone under.

The singer started ITNO (In The Name Of) back in 2011 in partnership with recording giants Sony, and signed successful singer Tom Odell.

A source told The Sun that Lily had been hopeful for the label: “Lily had bright hopes but it simply hasn’t worked out. She hoped by now to have an array of top talent on her roster but it’s quite the opposite.”

A spokesperson for the star said: “In the meantime she is very happy that Tom Odell’s records will be released on Columbia, who were the distributors for ITNO.”

However, Lily continues to be very interested in the music industry, and identifying new talent in particular, as her spokesperson said she will be announcing a new role soon: “Lily will shortly be announcing a new signing/consulting role for another label.”

The disappointing news about the ITNO label comes not long after Lily’s fashion company, Lucy In Disguise, was forced to fold.

Let’s hope 2015 is a little bit better for Lily’s business ventures!

With phrases like ‘swiping right’ and ‘POF hook-ups’ becoming part of our daily discourse, we were eager to find out just how many of you have taken the plunge and uploaded a personal profile in a bid to find Mr. Right…or in some cases, Mr. Right Now.

You ladies were split almost directly down the middle about whether there was a stigma attached to this modern dating method and yet a massive 71% of you have tried it!

Even more impressive is the fact that 40% of these dates have turned into serious relationships. Not too shabby!

Curiosity was the main motivator for all you online daters out there, while in true Irish form the notion that it was bound to be a bit of craic came in a close second. We’re just slaves to the banter, aren’t we?

The majority of you use Tinder as your digital cupid and your response was overwhelmingly positive, but we weren’t surprised to hear that some encounters were a little less than perfect!

Declarations of love on the first date (no, really) and confirmation that guys have no problem lying about their height online were just some of the deets you generous girls disclosed to us.

Looking out for your fellow ladies, you advised each other not to be too trusting, not to message the guy for too long before eventually meeting and to remember that many wonderful relationships all started with that first swipe right!

We’ve all grown up with Eminem’s outlandish and controversial lyrics – but this is pretty disgraceful.

The rapper released a snippet of his new song Vegas and has left people reeling with lyrics like: “So what’s it gon’ be? Put that s*** away Iggy. You don’t wanna blow that rape whistle on me. Sceam! I love it. ‘Fore I get lost with the gettin’ off.”

We’re sure Iggy is equally as disgusted by Eminem’s new lyrics, given that they seem to insinuate her rape.

Eminem is the second rapper to threaten Iggy, after Snoop Dogg said he would “check” her if her boyfriend didn’t first and calling her a c***.

It sounds as if certain musicians are obviously threatened by Iggy’s success and we hope she doesn’t let their disgusting comments get to her.

There is awful news for Coronation Street actor Craig Charles, whose older brother Dean has sadly died, meaning he has left the I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here jungle.

The actor was told the devastating news that his older brother had passed away on Thursday morning, Australian time.

A spokesperson for ITV have confirmed the news, saying: “Craig decided to leave the I’m a Celebrity camp earlier today and will be heading back to his family in the UK. We send our sincere condolences to Craig and his family.”

Heat have reported that although producers of the show learnt the tragic news on Wednesday night, they made the decision to wait until morning rather than deliver the news during the night.

Our thoughts are with his family at this awful time.
