There'll be celebrations in Kerry this weekend, with the news that Munster native Timothy V Murphy has welcomed his first child.

The 55-year-old, who has starred in True Detective, Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds and of course Glenroe, revealed the happy news via People magazine earlier this morning. Timothy's new arrival was born last week in Los Angeles but he and his partner, 32-year-old model Caitlin Manley, waited a few days before confirming it with the media.

"Caitlin and I are delighted to announce the arrival of our son, Sean Fionn Murphy, into the world on July 22, weighing in at 7½ pounds," the couple announced. Timothy also took to Instagram over the last few hours to share some stunning pictures of the little man and his parents.

We adore this one, captioned, "When Irish eyes are smiling":

And how gorgeous is this mum-and-son snap?

News of Sean's arrival comes just weeks after Timothy confirmed the happy pregnancy news on RTÉ Radio 1. "I have a steady woman now, which is good, and we're having a child in a couple of weeks," he told host Brendan O'Connor. "I'm a bit of a late starter alright, but sure better late than never though."

Is Timothy worried about becoming a dad late in life? Not really, it would seem. "I've got a young woman so she can do all the running around – she's 32," he said of Caitlin. "She's Boston Irish, so they're quite similar to us and she's got a good sense of humour."

We hope so with a comment like that!
