I have re-watched Gossip Girl at least three times and I still don’t agree with Dan being gossip girl. There are so many issues with the eldest Humphrey being GG but alas we can’t always get what we want.

Personally, I would have loved to see Dorota revealed as GG but the creators had other ideas.

Executive producer and writer, Joshua Safran revealed that he had someone else in mind during the early days of Gossip Girl.

He was speaking about Gossip Girl at the Vulture Festival this weekend when he revealed that one of our favourite Upper East Siders was actually meant to be the famous blogger.

Buzzfeed reported that NATE, yes Nathaniel Archibald, was Safran’s original GG, but Lonely Boy was chosen in the end.

He said, “I understand why Dan was Gossip Girl. I just had my heart set on Nate.”

Serena’s little brother Eric was also a potential GG at one stage.

“We worked hard to kind of lay in tiny seeds about it being Eric, and then the NY Post wrote an article saying that Gossip Girl was Eric so we were like, 'We gotta scratch that.'"

"Then…one of the writers realized that Nate had never sent a tip in to Gossip Girl, which is true at least through the end of season five. Nate never sent in a tip in through all of those episodes, which is when we're like, 'Oh, well then he's Gossip Girl.'"

Nate being the anonymous blogger that spread rumours about Serena, Blair and co. just doesn’t seem right, but it works far better than Dan, in my opinion.

However, Safran explained why Dan was the right choice, “It had to be Dan, because Dan’s a writer, observer, and could write in different styles.”

Who did you want to be Gossip Girl?

Hey Upper East Siders. As you all know, Gossip Girl is returning to our screens and we’re very excited about it. HBO revealed a reboot of the New York based drama is on the way and it will feature 10 one hour long episodes.

There is one thing we all want to know…Will the original cast be back?

Here's what they had to say about starring in the show again.

Leighton Meester, who played Blair Waldorf, recently told E! News that nobody has approached her about the show.

She commented, "No one's ever talked to me about it except for in interviews and I always say the same: I never say never, so I don't know. No one's sent me that information, it's coming from you."

Main stars Blake Lively and Penn Badgley’s schedules are pretty intense. Blake is expecting her third baby with husband Ryan Reynolds and Penn is currently filming season two of You.

However, The Age of Adeline star didn’t give up on the idea completely. In an interview with Variety, the actress said, “Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it's hard work and I've got my babies, and I don't want to be away from them that much. But I've just learned in life you never say never. I'm looking to do something that I haven't done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows—if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City."

Penn was completely against the idea of a reboot in 2018, so much so that he told Fox News that he couldn’t see a reboot happening.

“I don’t think that could happen for maybe another 10 years because if you look at the shows that are being rebooted, they’re much older. I don’t think any of us are interested in that, the creators or the cast,” the You star commented.

Chace Crawford hinted at a possible guest appearance. He told Digital Spy, "It would be hard I think [to get the original cast all together]. The reboot might come in the form of new characters. I would absolutely cameo. I'd have to!"

Ed Westwick echoed similar views to Badgley in an interview with Radio Times. Back in 2017, the White Gold actor said the show would never come back.

“Nah, that’s not gonna happen. I know there’s a bunch of them coming back – I hear they’re doing Will and Grace, they’ve done Gilmore Girls… But it’s such a strange thing to think about. It feels like we only just finished! And I haven’t done enough in between yet to feel like I could comfortably revisit it. And I did so much with that character – it’s played out, man. It’s done.”

The actor did joke that he’d certainly sign up for a reboot if Netflix was willing to chuck a tonne of money at it, “I’ll do it then. Hundred per cent!”

The original Gossip Girl creators may be involved in the reboot, but it doesn’t like we’ll be reunited with the original cast.

The reboot, which will be set eight years after the original ended, will follow a new generation of Manhattan's elite. The series will focus on how much social media and New York have changed in the past few years.

Yup, that's right. We're going right back to the Upper East Side, and discussions have reportedly taken place about bringing the original drama back.

The series starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley, and aired from 2007 until 2012. Let's not forget that none other than Kristen Bell narrated it too.

The show followed the glamorous (not to mention absurd) lives of a group of upper-class teenagers living in the prestigious areas of Manhattan.

The trends it inspired are still around today, it had an unprecedented amount of influence on the youth who tuned in to watch it.

Gossip Girl was a massive hit for the American TV network The CW, and president Mark Pedowitz has confirmed it could get a reboot.

According to Deadline, he said: “There’s been discussions. But I don’t know if we’re there yet.”

Pedowitz also added that the return would depend on Warner Bros., who own The CW, and showrunners Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz.

We've seen all 121 episodes about a million times, but my GOD we want more.

It really is hard to imagine what the Upper East Side might have been like without Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, right?

Well, it has been revealed that Jennifer Lawrence was actually desperate to play Serena Van Der Woodsen, in Gossip Girl.

In an interview with Vulture, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the best show ever, Josh Schwartz (the GG creator) said:

“We did not realise this at the time, but Jennifer Lawrence really wanted to play Serena and auditioned. This story came to us secondhand, but we were told she definitely auditioned and was bummed to not get it.”

Now, we love J Law, but we cannot imagine her playing the whimsical rich girl with a penchant for bd behaviour.

Blake Lively, you are, and ALWAYS will be Serena.

Also, Jennifer would have only been 15 playing the role, which would have been a little bit too young, in our humble opinion.

Needless to say, it worked out pretty good for Jen, as she sits at home polishing her Oscar…

XOXO Gossip Girl.

'Why not?' she replied, when asked if she felt that Gossip Girl could be resurrected in the future.

After the success of the Gilmore Girls revitalisation on Netflix, maybe Blair and Serena are the next characters to be brought back from the TV tomb.

It's hard to remember a time before Blake Lively took on the role of Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl; the role in which Blake shot to super stardom.

But what was it about Blake that won her the part? Well, we have the video that everyone's talking about – her audition tape – and along with her beautiful looks, it's not hard to see why she was cast.

Have a look at a much younger Ms Lively here and then co-star Ed Westwick's audition for Chuck Bass. You know you want to, XOXO, SHEmazing.
