miscarriage and loss

Beyoncé has opened up about her past miscarriage heartache in a rare interview. The Halo singer spoke about her personal struggles in an interview with Elle magazine.

The mum-of-three shared that she had suffered multiple miscarriages before welcoming her first child, Blue Ivy in 2012.

The singer told the publication, “I learned that all pain and loss is in fact a gift. Having miscarriages taught me that I had to mother myself before I could be a mother to someone else.”

She continued to share how motherhood has shaped her as a person.

“Then I had Blue, and the quest for my purpose became so much deeper. I died and was reborn in my relationship, and the quest for self became even stronger.”

“It’s difficult for me to go backwards. Being ‘No. 1’ was no longer my priority. My true win is creating art and a legacy that will live far beyond me. That’s fulfilling,” she added.

The Love On Top singer said becoming a mum and growing up helped change the way she views herself.

“Children and maturity have taught me to value myself beyond my physical appearance and really understand that I am more than enough no matter what stage I’m at in life. Giving zero f—s is the most liberating place to be.”

Beyoncé is a mum to seven-year-old Blue and two-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.

Princess Eugenie had a fairytale wedding last October when she married Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. It was a day full of love and celebration, but the couple had barely walked down the aisle when baby chatter started.

Rumours and speculation about when Eugenie will start a family have been following the pair around since their wedding day.

Both the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge have been hit with similar speculation to Eugenie. Meghan had only just given birth to baby Archie when headlines about when she’ll have her second child were splashed across tabloids.

We may think saying things like, ‘When will we hear the pitter patter of tiny feet?’ is harmless but we shouldn’t presume a newly married woman wants or can have children. They may be struggling with fertility issues or they simply may not want to be a mum.

Princess Eugenie has been heckled with these questions since she married Jack and now her mum, Sarah Ferguson has hit back at the rumours.

The royal couple have ignored the speculation, which unfortunately only escalated the rumours, until now.

A video of Sarah giving a speech was uploaded to Twitter and the mum swiftly put the rumours to bed.

“No, she's not pregnant!” she quipped.

The newspapers have been full of rumours about her daughter which prompted the Duchess of York to address the journalists at the event.

“I'm just going through what the journalists say and they're all here, so I just thought I'd fill it in,” she said.

We need to stop speculating and remember that regardless of their royal titles and lavish weddings, the royals may face fertility issues and pregnancy struggles like thousands of women around the world.

However, unlike Princess Eugenie we don’t have to read about our family plans in every national newspaper or listen to the public speculate when our tummy looks a little bigger than usual.

Shay explained that social media is only ever full of the happy moments, but there is more to life than the series of photos we post on our Instagram accounts.

“We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life. And sometimes it's easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity.”

She admitted that having millions of followers can be a huge help to her especially during the hard days.

Shay posted a photo of a sonogram with a broken heart emoji alongside the devastating note.

"In the spirit of the new year, I think that we need to remember that we are all on this journey together—in good times and in bad—and to remind ourselves that we seldom really know or understand the struggles and hardships that other people are going through," Shay said.

The actress encouraged her followers to be a little more compassionate, empathetic, patient and thoughtful with each other in 2019 and we couldn’t agree with her more.
