Congrats to Louise McSherry, she has just announced she's expecting her first child!

“I can honestly say that throughout my experience with cancer I only thought ‘WHY ME?’ one time,” she wrote on her website louisemcsharry.com.

The 2fm presenter has been very open about her recovery from cancer, and despite worrying about having children, Louise is pregnant with her first child with hubby Gordon.

“The treatment which had saved my life had also decimated my egg count. Where I should have been at 35 or 40 on the scale of being able to conceive, I was a two. I was a two, and I was pissed off,” she wrote.

“Then, a few months after we started trying, I got pregnant.

“We spent the seven weeks between finding out and going for a scan in total disbelief, barely telling anyone, and trying not to get our hopes up. This wasn’t meant to have happened!

“Then, last week, we saw our baby wriggling around on a screen in The Rotunda, and now there is simply no denying it.

“No matter what happens now there is a baby of our creation, and I have become the exception.

“We are absolutely delighted and a little bit terrified at the prospect of becoming proper adults, but I gather that’s a normal way to feel.

“We are also incredibly grateful that we have beaten the odds.

Vogue Williams took to Instagram yesterday to share a heart-breaking tribute to a family friend who passed away just last month.

Posting a photo of 20-year-old Duncan McLean, the model gave some background into his life, explaining how he had been diagnosed with cancer just days before his death.

“My younger brother Alexander lost one of his closest friends to a sudden onset brain tumour on the 28th February," she wrote alongside the smiling photo of Duncan.

The post told us of how Duncan was “admitted to hospital in Edinburgh on Thursday 26th February…and died early on the Sunday morning, only two days later.”

A friend of her younger brother's, the loss obviously hit hard with Vogue, who finished her post with some shocking stats about the rise of cancer-related deaths among young people.

This isn’t the first time Vogue has opened up about a personal loss on her social media. Late last year she took to Instagram to mark the fifth anniversary of her father's tragic passing.

Along with a picture of her late father was a touching message where she called him her “best friend”.

A 3-year-old has been touring the country on a mission to realise his dream of becoming a police officer.

Following a big day out at the Garda HQ in Dublin back in September, Ceejay McArdle has been travelling across the country helping the Gardaí out on their daily duties.

And judging from his Facebook page, he is doing a darn good job too.

The Monaghan native suffers from leukaemia and is to be undergoing rigorous treatment until 2018.

But that's not stopping him from having his moment with local police officers who have been taking the sick child under their wing and welcoming him onto the force.

From sectioning off crime scenes to making arrests, we reckon Ceejay definitely has a future in the business.

"Castleblayney's youngest Garda recruit and cancers worst enemy!!" reads his social media page and we can't help but agree.

Actress Maisie Williams is best known for her portrayal of badass Arya Stark on Game of Thrones.

The 18-year old is also going to be making an appearance in another fan-favourite TV series Doctor Who.

While she seems to be keeping pretty busy with her acting career, she’s also not one to forget her friends from before she was famous.

The teenager has donated €13,000 to a charity set up by her friend from school with cancer.

According to the Bath Chronicle, the Game of Thrones star, donated the money to Willberry Wonder Pony Charity after winning it on a radio show.

The charity was set up by 17-year-old Hannah Francis who is a pupil at Norton Hill School in Midsomer Norton.

Maisie and Hannah know each other from school and when Maisie heard about the charity fund, she was keen to do whatever she could to help out.

Hannah, who is a talented horse rider, developed osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer earlier this year.

While undergoing treatment, she has turned her fight against cancer into a mission to #KickCancersButt. She’s also turned her mascot Willberry the Wonder pony into a global force against cancer.

Maisie won the money after appearing on Absolute Radio's 'Who's calling Christian?'

She took the top prize after being voted the winner of best phone call, beating the likes of Sir Bruce Forsyth, Jim Carter and Sharon Osbourne.

Currently filming the next series of Game of Thrones, she told the station how the two girls met and how Hannah had started the charity.

Maisie told listeners: "It is a heart breaking story but Hannah is doing really well."

A social media favourite, Maisie also told listeners to follow Hannah's story on social media and through her own personal Twitter account.

The Willberry the Wonder Pony charity has raised around €55,000 and the money will be divided between cancer charities of Hannah's choice.

We always fancied ourselves as rather adapt polo players.

Something about all that champagne and Pimm’s and jolly-good fun seems to appeal hugely.

It’s a little Pretty Woman when she wears the amazing polka-dot dress and on-fleek Nineties white gloves; it’s a lot Prince Harry racing around on a noble steed giving us the eye during occasional breaks in play.

And it seems that polo events are not just for royalty (cinematic, aristocratic or otherwise).

Because at the All Ireland Polo Club on the grounds of the Phoenix Park, there are plenty of good-natured equine larks to be had.

Case in point: the glamorous Pink Polo In The Park event, which was successfully held last week.

Glamorous guests, all of whom were supporting Breast Cancer Ireland, comprised of the likes of Michelle Harrison, Norah Casey, Leigh Arnold, Roisin Tierney Crowe, and Gavin Duffy.

Watching the polo from the comfort of a marquee. they were treated to on-pitch action from a talented Irish squad who played against Team Canada… and we’re glad to report that Ireland emerged victorious in a fast-paced show of horsemanship.

The day had began with a pink prosecco reception followed by a sumptuous three-course luncheon prepared and served by the team from the swish Tinakilly House.

TV presenters and stylist entrepreneurs Darren Kennedy and Cathy O’Connor judged the keenly-fought best dressed competition, which was eventually won by Naomi Mulderry and Eoin Likely – both of whom received prizes from Harvey Nichols, Louis Copeland and Ireland’s Blue Book

Lovely lunch with Claire Bear! Thank you #pinkpolointhepark #breastcancerireland

In the second match of the day, Team Breast Cancer Ireland narrowly beat Team Nissan with a score of 6-5 and afterwards CEO of Nissan Ireland, James McCarthy, presented beautiful Galway Crystal trophies to both teams.

During the afternoon, guests furthermore enjoyed a Veuve Clicquot champagne reception and once all the excitement in the park was over, teams and guests were brought to Residence on St Stephen's Green in a cavalcade of Nissan cars for the after-party celebrations.

Certainly, it was a fitting end to the summer polo season and raised much-needed funds for the charity. And in the meantime, roll on the 2016 season, we say! Now, where did we leave our white gloves…
