A young woman has taken to Facebook to pay tribute to the passerby who intervened after she was assaulted on Grafton Street on Monday morning.

Becky Ni Uuinseann took to social media to outline the details of the incident which occurred at approximately 8am.

"To the guy who helped me this morning …. thank you! I never asked your name or even for your details to say thank you and I'm putting it down to shock, but maybe this might reach you somehow," she began her post.

"This morning between 7:50 and 8:05 I was attacked on Grafton street. Some guy in his 40s grabbed me and was screaming in my face while throwing digs," Becky told her followers.

While she attempted to defend herself, Becky confirmed that the passerby who intervened bore the brunt of the man's assault.

"I managed to block him but couldn't get away and only 1 person got involved and helped me get free. I'm positive he took the brunt of it once he got involved."

"Once free he walked me most of the way to work before heading on his way," Becky continued.

"If you're going through town please be careful. The guy was big and definitely was not speaking English. Please be careful and maybe take 1 ear phone out! This was broad daylight while everyone was on their way to work!"

Speaking to The Independent, Becky confirmed that she has reported the incident to the Gardaí, saying: "They couldn't have been more helpful."

"They told me that not enough people report these things. No matter how small you may think the incident is you really should report it because usually these people are known to the guards."

Crystal Castles, an electronic group popular on the indie scene, shot to fame in 2008 with their hit Alice Practice.

Original member Alice Glass left the group in 2014, and has this week revealed the reason why.

Using the hashtag #MeToo, the former founding member has claimed that she is a victim of sexual assault, physical abuse and rape at the hands of her CC bandmate Ethan Kath.

Alice stated that the recent wave of discussion surrounding sexual assault led to her feeling that it was time to speak out.

'The first time he took advantage of me was when I was around 15. He was 10 years older than me.'

'I came to in the back of his car extremely intoxicated (from drinks he had given me that night).'

'He went to great lengths to find me again, stalking me and driving past my high school looking for me,' she claimed, in a lengthy statement posted to her website.

Alice goes on to claim how, as Crystal Castles gained popularity, the abuse continued and escalated.

'He became physically abusive,' reads the statement.

'He held me over a staircase and threatened to throw me down it. He picked me up over his shoulders and threw me onto concrete.'

Alice goes on to allege that Kath used manipulation, violence and forcible restraint which led to sexual assault.

'He broke glass shower doors to frighten me, he locked me into rooms.'

'He told me that my feminism made me a target for rapists and only he could protect me.'

'He forced me to have sex with him or, he said, I wouldn’t be allowed to be in the band anymore.'

'I am outraged and hurt by the recent statements made by Alice about me and our prior relationship,' Kath responded in a statement from his attorney obtained by Pitchfork.

'Her story is pure fiction and I am consulting my lawyers as to my legal options.'

'Fortunately, there are many witnesses who can and will confirm that I was never abusive to Alice.'

Alice finished her statement by saying that walking away from Crystal Castles was hugely difficult, but she knew that it was the right decision.

'As difficult as it was, I knew that leaving was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.'

'It has taken me years to recover from enduring almost a decade of abuse, manipulation and psychological control. I am still recovering.'

Like a worrying number of other women within the entertainment industry, Natasha Lyonne has experience of assault.

And earlier this week, she decided to share it in a move which many of her fans and followers say brought them to tears.

In an account which paints a vivid picture of Natasha at just 19-years-old, the now 38-year-old actress recalls her desire to impress a man who would be instrumental in whether she would be hired to play music icon Janis Joplin.

Having experienced success with the film Slums of Beverly Hills, Natasha hoped her experience and passion for the role would ultimately work in her favour – a hope which was dashed when she found herself 'overpowered' by the man she refers to simply as 'G' in her post.

"I’d always felt like the oldest girl in showbiz. By the time I met G—for his Janis Joplin film I was roughly 19 and already had been at work as a kid actor for 13 years. I wanted the part so bad," she began her post.

"No one knew Janis like I did from the inside out. I’d known her that way since I’d memorized all her lyrics as a little girl actress readying myself for the day I got to play her. And here it was. Slums of Beverly Hills had just come out & I was a hot commodity."

"We would meet in LA while I was in town to discuss the project. He was 35-40. I was staying at my friend Zoe’s apt in West Hollywood. I didn’t have a car cuz I lived in New York City," she remembers.

"I thought I was a real tough guy back then. Sometimes I still do. I wore baby blue corduroy bell bottoms stolen from my friend Annie P and a white wife beater. My hair was huge, curly, messy. Big platform boots."

That seemed fair. I’m pretty sure it was still daylight. We went to a bar on Sunset & I started drinking Southern Comfort figuring, hey- this’ll prove how Method I am. Janis loved Southern Comfort. Being broken & freewheeling. People loved identifying with her pain & her mess. I can remember him driving me back to Zoe’s place & me saying not to come up but really what I recall is suddenly having this huge guy overpowering me and me saying the word “NO” quite clearly. He won I guess. When we woke up I vaguely remember some form of a goodbye on his part like we’d had a fun night. I was pretty devastated by the whole scene and declined flying back to LA for the screentest. In my head at the time I tried to comfort myself with some of her “get it while you can” shtick or maybe that one about how “freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose/nothing, I mean nothing, honey if it isn't free”; beating myself up for not being clear headed, wondering what the hell had just gone down and if I’d allowed it. But now, I also think of these words of hers to the young girls unsure if to speak up, in awe of those who already have & to the teenager inside me still questioning if my truth is valid enough: “Don't compromise yourself. You are all you've got.”

'Me too' – They're just two simple words, but they currently carry a tremendous amount of weight on social media.

Used to highlight the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in contemporary society, the hashtag has swept Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in the last 36 hours, and there's no denying the magnitude of the campaign.

Taking to Instagram earlier today, Ugly Betty star, America Ferrera, contributed to the conversation, and provided her fans and followers with a harrowing account as to why the hashtag affects her.

"First time I remember being sexually assaulted I was 9-years-old, " she wrote in a post which has amassed more than 36,000 likes so far.

Recalling the anxiety she felt at the time,  the 33-year-old actress continued: "I told no one and lived with the shame and guilt thinking all along that I, a nine-year-old child, was somehow responsible for the actions of a grown man."

The actress, who joins a number of other stars coming forward with their own stories of assault, remembers the horror of having to regularly face the individual who violated her.

“I had to see this man on a daily basis for years to come,” she continued. “He would smile at me and wave, and I would hurry past him, my blood running cold, my guts carrying the burden of what only he and I knew – that he expected me to shut my mouth and smile back.”

America pushed for her followers' support of the hashtag, writing: "Ladies, let’s break the silence to the next generation of girls won’t have to live with this bulls**t.”

The actress has been inundated with messages of support from the public, with many offering their own experiences alongside the hashtag.

"I wish that I knew that it wasn’t normal at a younger age. It sucks to keep all that bottled inside. As a child you blame yourself not knowing that the adult is the one who is in control," wrote one follower.

Actress, Alyssa Milano, created the #MeToo platform for victims to come forward in a show of solidarity.
