Sometimes when you're feeling run-down, sluggish and tired, an energised and healthy body can feel like something totally out of reach.

But health is a way of life and not just the way you feel when you've managed to get to the gym two days in a row.

We love these inspiring quotes for a bit of motivation when we're not feeling like our best selves!

1. William Shakespeare
See, they even hated exercise back in the 1500s!

2. Jim Rohn
It is a temple, after all, even if you do fill it with kebabs after a night out!

3. Kevin Trudeau
Talk about motivation!

4. Marjorie Hinckley
The diet starts tomorrow…

5. Michael Pallon
Sometimes the simplest advice is the best.

6. Anonymous
The first key to running that marathon is getting out of bed!

7. Mark Twain
We know it's not easy!

8. Terry Guillemets
No-one else can do the hard work for you.

9. Mahatma Gandhi
Yes, but gold and silver CAN buy you a personal trainer…

10. Anonymous
Mental health is just as important as physical health.

Ever since Ellie Goulding was photographed with a ring on that very important finger last month, there has been widespread speculation that she had secretly become engaged to her singer boyfriend Dougie Poynter.

Just before you go out to buy the hat though, the McBusted singer has denied the rumours that they are set to tie the knot.

In an interview with The Mirror this week, Dougie said: “No. It was just a ring that fit on that finger. It didn’t really look like an engagement ring though, did it?”

Well now we just feel disappointed and silly.

And just in case Dougie thought he might be able to get away with proposing with a ring like that in the future, his bandmate Harry Judd piped up to add: “That would have been a lame engagement ring, Doug.”

Given how Ellie has been gushing about the lovely Dougie of late, we would imagine that wedding bells may not be too far off.

Huge congratulations are in order for former Westlife singer Kian Egan and his wife Jodi Albert, who have revealed that they are expecting their second child.

Kian teased his social media followers by taking to Twitter to write: “Koa has some big news to share with you all! Listen carefully now!”

Then, in what is possibly the cutest announcement we have ever watched, little son Koa proudly told the camera: “Mummy’s got a baby in her belly and I’m going to be a big brother!”

How adorable is that?

While no other details have been released as of yet, Jodi’s excitement is clear from the smiley face emoticons all over her Twitter!

Kian and Egan tied the knot in 2009, before going on to welcome son Koa two years later.

What a sweet way to announce their big news! Congratulations to the lovely family.

If you've ever looked in your wardrobe and thought, "I have absolutely nothing to wear," you're one of the many Irish girls that's victim to the No Basics Syndrome.

Unlike our European counterparts, many Irish ladies shop purely for trends, skipping out on solid classic pieces like good jeans, a plain white t-shirt and a goes-with-everything blazer.

Next time you hit the shops, why not update your style with some of these key essentials?

1. A good bra
Forget what you're wearing on top, a well-fitted bra is the basis of any flattering outfit. Get yourself to one of the bigger department stores or a specialist lingerie shop for a proper fitting, and stock up on comfortable t-shirt bras – not just sexy lace ones!

3. A cocktail dress
A well-tailored dress works for weddings, dinners, work nights out and everything in between. If you can't find one that fits perfectly, don't be afraid to get it altered – it'll make all the difference!

Printed dress, French Connection, €119

4. A great pair of jeans
Whatever your favourite style of jean, it's worth splashing out on a pair that won't sag, that are the right length and that fit you comfortably at the waist. It's never fun trying on twenty different pairs of jeans but it'll be worth it when you find the perfect pair!

Gabby Two Part Court, €73, Office

8. A killer pair of stilettos
What's life without a bit of glamour? Just as much as you need those comfortable shoes, you also can't get away without having at least one sky-high pair of heels for those nights when your outfit just needs that little extra something!

Uh-oh. Do we see a full-blown celebrity feud about to develop between Naya Rivera and Kim Kardashian?

By now, you will all be aware of that nude Kim Kardashian spread in Paper magazine, and buddy Jonathan Cheban’s crazy rant at Naya Rivera for expressing her disapproval of the risqué photos.

We didn’t expect Naya to take accusations of being a Kim copycat lying down, and she has expressed her feelings in an ever-so-subtle manner on her Instagram.

Taking to the photo blogging site, the former Glee star posted a picture of herself posing in what is clearly pretend shock.

The singer then captioned the photo with the hashtag ‘Instagram got me in trouble’. Cheeky, Naya!

Naya was left unimpressed by Kim’s latest photos, publicly slamming the move by writing underneath one of the shots: “I normally don’t. But…you’re someone’s mother…”

Kim’s wingman Jonathan Cheban then launched into an almighty rant against Naya, publically blasting her on his website.

“Naya has always been a step BEHIND .. After a year-long tour of impersonating Kim, she decided to come out of her shell and make a real statement about Kim’s Paper cover,” he wrote.

Will Naya’s latest tongue-in-cheek post land her in more trouble?

The festive season may be jolly and bright, but for Ireland’s elderly it can be anything but. As people get involved in Christmas activities and many clubs and organisations close for the holidays, loneliness can have a devastating effect on the older community – something that Age Action is once again highlighting this year.

Lead man of Dublin’s Hunting the Brave, John Sadlier, is raising money for this brilliant cause with his debut solo single, Dare to Dream (this Christmas). All proceeds from the sale of this great Christmas tune go to Age Action, to make the festive season a little better for the country’s older people. Check out the unforgettable tune below:

Hunting the Brave is an alternative folk band hailing from Dublin. Their music is a blend of alternative pop and the soft subtleties of folk, with a dynamic range of guitar and piano-led songs.

Along with John’s first solo single, 2014 has been a huge year for Hunting the Brave, who supported The Coronas and White Lies, and were also firm favourites at all the big festivals, including Indiependence. After all this success, John felt it was only fair to give something back.

“Christmas is an exceptionally tough time for elderly people who face loneliness throughout the year. When I wrote this song, I really wanted to use it to create awareness for those less fortunate than myself. I couldn’t think of a better charity to help than Age Action and I am delighted to be working alongside them this year. If I help one person I will be glad I could make a difference.”

Robin Webster, CEO of Age Action, is thrilled to be involved in this Christmas campaign. ‘We are delighted that John has chosen Age Action this Christmas. By downloading the song Dare to Dream the public not only get a great single but also help our work with vulnerable older people this Christmas’.

Dare to Dream (This Christmas) is available on iTunes from November 19th 2014. Follow Hunting the Brave on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with news.

After dominating the Fashion Week catwalks this year, everyone was pretty much convinced that Kendall Jenner was set to strut her stuff on the Victoria’s Secret runway.

It’s bad news for the model’s fans, however, as it has been confirmed that she will not be sprouting her Angel wings this year – because she got a better offer elsewhere.

Given how Kendall has previously listed modelling for Victoria’s Secret as one of her biggest dreams, we couldn’t possible imagine what could be more important than ticking that gig off her bucket list.

Then we heard that Chanel was involved and we immediately understood!

Indeed, the reality star reportedly turned down the Victoria’s Secret show in favour of a big Chanel show that is being held on the same day.

Okay, her decision makes total sense now.

It has been an amazing year for the 19-year-old, who has risen up the modelling ranks to land a highly coveted campaign with fashion house Givenchy.

Kendall also walked the runways for Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger as well as Chanel.

While it’s an unfortunate clash of dates, we’re sure Kendall will be able to get over it!

Living alone is not something that many twenty-somethings have experience of.

If you were lucky enough to move out of home for college, you most likely lived in a den of cider cans and stolen traffic cones with at least three others. Those of us who took off on J1 summers will know the pain/joy of three months on an air mattress, living with 16 others in a house built for four. Oh, adult life!

After college the thought of renting alone can seem a little daunting. I know for me it did, but after four months of house-sharing with one silent German girl who refused to make eye contact, and another who had pretty much taken on her boyfriend as a fourth (non-paying) renter, I decided it was time for a change.

None of my pals were looking to move out at the time, so I took the plunge and rented a one-bedroom flat. It wasn’t a major decision – the one-bed apartment just happened to be the nicest, best value and most conveniently located of all the places I’d viewed. Before I knew it, I’d moved my stuff in and was suddenly living solo á la Carrie Bradshaw.

Things definitely took a lot of getting used to – there’s something strange about arriving home and realising you’re the only person who’s been in the house all day. And when I ran out of teabags for the first time, for some reason it felt a little lonely not to be able to borrow one from a roomie. It’s the little things!

Aside from that though, living by myself was the best decision I’d ever made. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time alone in the house to be honest – either I was out, at work or having friends over – but I came to cherish the moments I did get to spend there by myself.

There was no one to silently judge my choice of TV (yes, I happen to adore University Challenge – what of it?!), no one to come barrelling into the living room with a gang of mates when I’d planned a quiet night, and no one to hog the shower/kitchen/Wi-Fi. Plus, if I didn’t particularly feel like wearing a bra of an evening, well, who was to know? Bliss!

There is definitely a psychological hurdle that comes with moving into a place by yourself. Just like it can feel slightly odd at first to sit in a restaurant alone or order a drink in a bar with no-one sitting beside you, living alone does take some getting used to. But I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Your twenties are all about getting to know yourself and who you are – and what better way to embrace these years than by going it alone? Never again will you have the opportunity to be so fiercely independent.

Although I only lived my lovely little one-bed for less than a year before a room came up in a pal’s house, it was enough to make me realise that I didn’t necessarily need to rely on other people to be content.

Yes, it certainly takes a period of adjustment and it mightn’t be for everyone, but I truly believe that living by yourself is one of the most satisfying and enriching experiences you’ll ever have. Give it a go!

Remember that picture of Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie wetting herself on stage? Well, she will never forget it.

The star, who was promoting her new single this week, opened up on the embarrassing incident that she has branded as ‘the most unattractive moment of my life’.

Recalling the moment during an interview on Hot 97, the 39-year-old explained: “We were late for stage, driving down the freeway, it’s Friday traffic…get to the stage, we have to start the show right then.”

She continued: “I’m running on and we jump and do Let’s Get It Started, and I get crazy and I jump and run across the stage and my adrenaline was running and, gosh.”

Gosh indeed. A beady-eyed photographer captured the unfortunate incident on camera and, pretty soon, it was all over the Internet.

Yes, it’s an unfortunate thing to happen, but it’s also kind of impressive to hear just how much energy she throws into her performances!

Having just entered the jungle on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, you would think that Gemma Collins would be pretty excited right now.

Apparently all is not so peachy for Gemma however, with the reality star reportedly terrified over a potential sex tape leak.

According to the Daily Star, the 33-year-old is afraid that a selfie sex tape may have stumbled into the wrong hands and may be released on the Internet.

A close friend told the paper: “Gemma is beside herself with worry that this might get out. The last thing she wants is a private recording of her bedroom antics being put on the net for everyone to see.”

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that for the lovely Gemma.

With a reputation for her unashamed honesty, we doubt it will be long before the star reveals all to her fellow camp mates.

When it comes to our daily beauty routines, many of us would be hard pressed to go without our mascara, right?

We might be able to sacrifice our bronzer or reluctantly go bare-lipped for a few days, but most girls will admit that without their mascara they can look tired or drained. So we do really appreciate that extra boost around our peepers.

To really maximise your look and make the most of your favourite mascara, be sure to follow these tips and tricks and get all you can out of this beauty essential.

Work from the inside out!
Did you know that conditioning your lashes is just as important as conditioning your hair? Give your lashes the TLC they deserve by investing in a lash conditioner which will nourish the lashes and in turn create a smooth surface on which to apply your mascara.

Use that curler!
Do you use an eyelash curler on the daily, or is it more of a special occasion thing? Try to incorporate the curler into your daily regime and see the difference immediately! Always remember to apply the curler to bare lashes and if the curler can be warmed up by a quick blast from your hair dryer, all the better!

Comb it out!
You could be wearing the most expensive or luxurious mascara on the market, but it won’t do your lashes any justice if they’re clumping together like spider legs. Ew. Investing in a lash comb is a smart move if you really want a set of beguiling lashes!

Grab a spoon!
Hold a spoon underneath your eye when applying mascara to your bottom lashes. This will stop inconvenient mascara smears on the skin and will give you a better chance to coat each individual bottom lash.

Powder up!
Allow each layer of mascara to dry before applying the next layer. If you’re looking for some extra oomph around your eyes, then dust a little translucent powder on your lashes between applications. This will guarantee a plumped up, voluminous look that false lashes just can’t provide!

If you follow these tips and tricks for each and every mascara application, you'll be able to scratch false lashes off your beauty shopping list for good!
