Mrs Brown’s Boys

This year’s Christmas panto is going to gas.

Polly and the Magic Lamp pokes fun at the Disney classic Aladdin with one of the most hilarious casts to ever hit Ireland’s theatres.

Mrs Brown Boys Rory Cowan will be playing Polly, the main star of the show.

He will be joined by Fair City’s Ryan Andrews, pop artist Jake Carter, Dancing with the Stars Erin McGregor, and West End star Rob Vickers.

And today another big name has confirmed his part in the upcoming, fun-filled panto as well…

James Patrice, social media influencer, best known for his witty Instagram posts and sensational snapchats.

The presenter was in disbelief when he received the callback for this holiday season’s panto.

“HOWAYA GENIE”, he joked. “Beyond excited to be playing the Genie in this year’s panto! I’m not gonna lie, I nearly [sh*t] me-self when I got the call.

“And to be sharing the stage with a PHENOM group of people is a mahoosive cherry on top. Can’t wait to see some of me Moira’s in the audience – Bridie O’Donoghue will be sickened!

“It’s going to be a fabulous festive season, gals.”

Erin was equally thrilled sharing the news as well.

“Such a great cast to get to work with. The first question everyone asked me after DWTS was “so what’s next?“ I honestly never knew.

“I just believed if I turned up with an open mind and a willingness to work that the right thing would appear .. ALWAYS BELIEVE, it’s never too late.”

We are so excited for Polly and the Magic Lamp to make its Christmas debut.

The show will run from December 21st until January 6th, and we cannot wait to see it.

Mrs Brown’s Boys actor Danny O’Carroll is in the midst of setting up a charity fundraiser in Donegal to raise funds for the family of the Buncrana victims.

Danny plays Buster in the hugely popular TV show and originally planned to hold a fundraiser for Pieta House. But, when the star saw the tragedy of Buncrana he decided a fundraiser for the family of the victims would be the right thing to do as well.

“They are two separate causes but I thought with all the celebrities who are going to be in Donegal on May 27 we could get two events up and running,” Danny told The Irish Mirror.

The fundraiser is set to host a celebrity golf classic at the Rosapenna Golf Couse on May 27, and also a gala dinner at the Shandon Hotel and Spa in Dunfanaghy on the same night.

Fiona Delany, 35, who plays Maris in Mrs Brown’s Boys was not allowed to board her flight from Glasgow to Dublin.

The actress, and daughter of comedian Brendan O’Carroll, is currently 36 weeks pregnant and was told she was too far along in her pregnancy to board the flight.

She told the Irish Sun that she had a letter from her doctor which said she was “fit to fly for the month of September.”She said that it was not until she was at the foot of the steps leading to the plane that she was told she could not fly.

“I got as far as the tarmac before I was stopped at the steps of the plane. It was the captain in the end who ultimately called it”.

The mom of three was in Glasgow for the filming of a live episode of the Dublin based TV series. She explained that had even taken certain measures to ensure her travel was not disrupted:

“I even had my solicitor with me, who said I would sign a waiver relieving Stobart Air of any responsibility if I did have any problems while flying but they still refused.”

She said the situation is “mad” in that she was allowed to fly from Dublin to Glasgow two days previously but they stopped her trying to board her return flight.

In order to get a return flight, between airfare and taxis Fiona had to pay an additional €873. Aer Lingus Regional have released a statement since the matter has been made public:

"Aer Lingus Regional does not permit passengers who are over 36 weeks pregnant to fly. This is in the best interest of the health and well-being of our passengers.

This policy is clearly outlined in the terms and conditions that all passengers must accept in advance of flying.”

With the Marriage Equality referendum just weeks away, a number of Irish personalities are using their position to encourage people to get out and make sure their voice is heard on voting day.

A range of celebs from Hozier to Brian O'Driscoll (and of course, Dustin the Turkey) have all spoken out for the Yes campaign so far, but this latest video really brought a little tear to our eye.

Brendan O'Carroll's beloved Mrs. Brown is known for her no-nonsense attitude, and it turns out she feels the same when it comes to marriage equality. What's the "feckin' fuss," after all?

"Getting married isn't easy… changing the law isn't easy and changing attitude is even harder. But we can do it. We did it before, and the world didn't end."

Wise words there from the Mammy-In-Chief.

Our favourite Irish mammy Mrs Brown aka Brendan O’Carroll is set to hop into bed – of the business kind – with none other than David Beckham!

The Irish TV star wants to buy into Becks’ new Miami football team.

Brendan now lives in Florida – where Becks’ new club will be based – and he is keen to support his soon-to-be local team.

Brendan, whose BBC1 show Mrs Brown’s Boys pulls in a huge 12 million viewers, said, “I’m hoping to buy into it.

“I’m hoping to buy shares in it…they are going to be my home team.”

But Brendan told us not to expect Becks to have a cameo in Mrs Brown’s Boys any time soon.

“Unless it’s completely accidental. He’s not really funny,” he said.

We think Victoria would disagree there!
