Jamie Dornan

It was the casting decision that caused an international storm: in the role of Christian Grey, Jamie Dornan – known for his trademark facial hair – would appear clean-shaved.

"Jamie Dornan without a beard is like a cupcake without frosting," one berate individual wrote on Twitter a year ago when the controversial announcement was first made.

Another chipped in with: "If I was Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan kept his beard and Irish accent, Fifty Shades would probably be a lot better."

Rather predictably, here at SHEmazing! Towers we definitely covet the 33-year-old Co Down man's sexy stubble.

But it has come to our attention that the wider public isn't entirely in agreement.

Yes, a brand new survey has now revealed that the likes of Prince Harry, David Beckham, Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt have ALL been deemed to have better beards than Jamie.

In a survey of 1,000 people carried out by the popular Crown Clinic in Manchester (the same clinic favoured by the likes of Calum Best and Dr Christian from Embarrassing Bodies) the ginger whiskers of royal hottie Prince Harry were deemed the world's most lovely.

David Beckham and George Clooney slot in at numbers two and three respectively, while Ben Affleck makes number four.

At the other end of the scale, Jake Gyllenhaal is ranked ninth, while our Jamie rounds up the Top 10.

Interestingly however, women aren't always big fans of facial fuzz: 62 percent say they prefer their lads to be clean-shaven.

Still, growing numbers of men are enhancing their look with either beard or sideburn transplants. Indeed, Crown Clinic says its bookings have jumped by a quarter in the last three years alone.

And surgeon Asim Shahmalak reckons that Prince Harry (who thankfully says he'll be on the market for a while yet) is the facial hair trend-setter of the moment.

The medic revealed: "The reaction to Prince Harry's beard has been universally positive. While he looks great with his ginger fuzz, the sad fact is almost half of men cannot grow a full beard.

"There are gaps in their beard or sideburns and the end result is patchy and unattractive.

"We can fill in those gaps to make sure any man can get a full beard like Harry."

And frankly, we have no problem with more men being rather more princely… or better still, more like Jamie himself. In the meantime, roll on Movember!

Top 10 celebrity beards, as revealed by Crown Clinic:

  1. Prince Harry
  2. David Beckham
  3. George Clooney
  4. Ben Affleck
  5. Ryan Gosling
  6. Hugh Jackman
  7. Alasdhair Willis
  8. Brad Pitt
  9. Jake Gyllenhaal
  10. Jamie Dornan

Actor Jamie Dornan was supposed to star alongside Bradley Cooper in the new film Burnt

However, reports have emerged that claim film bosses are apparently too worried that Jamie's role in Fifty Shades of Grey would be "too distracting."

The Sun have made the report that while Jamie had already been involving in filming for the project, executives decided to let him go from the cast. The film is about a hotheaded chef who opens a restaurant in Paris and tries to get himself a prestigious third Michelin star.

Despite the actor undergoing specific training for the part, it would seem that his scenes have now been cut. A spokesperson for the film has confirmed that his scenes would not be used. However they did not give any specific reasons why this had happened. They said:

"Jamie's role was a small cameo that part of a back story and following the editing process is no longer part of the fim."

The tabloid are reporting that sources have pointed to his involvement with the Fifty Shades franchise as being the main reason for his dismissal:

"It's embarassing. being in Fifty Shades of Grey seems to be getting Jamie dropped from movies which he had already been cast in rather than landing him big new roles."

"But some people having him pop up on screen would be distracting. They're hoping to generate Oscar buzz with Burnt, and featuring the star of the most widely panned film of 2015 wasn't going to do the project any favours really."

Jamie's character was supposed to be a rival to that of Bradley's but it would seem that his story line will no longer feature.

Though the millions of women who found themselves drooling over his perfect face in Fifty Shades might disagree, Jamie Dornan has previously spoken of his love of having a beard.

Indeed, he's said he believes it makes him more distinguished and less cutsie-looking.

But the actor struck a balance while out and about in London yesterday, sporting neither a full beard nor a clean-shaven look.

Instead, Jamie boasted a handlebar moustache – which unsurprisingly he managed to pull off to perfection.

Although dressed down in a blue t-shirt and navy jeans, also on show were his toned biceps.

The 33-year-old Co. Down-native was accompanied by his English wife, Amelia Warner, also 33, and their 18-month-old daughter, Dulcie.

The facial hair is not by choice, however: he has grown the moustache for a role in the forthcoming Jadotville

Released next year, the feature film documents the story of Co. Kerry Commandant Pat Quinlan, who led a stand-off with French and Belgian troops in the Congo in the early 1960s.

Playing the suited and booted Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of EL James's Fifty Shades Of Grey, Mr Dornan sent hearts aflutter when the film hit cinemas in February.

It eventually went on to gross half a billion euro at the box office.

Thankfully, Jamie has already signed up for the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, which is due for release on February 10, 2017.

It is believed that he has been offered a €1.35m bonus to do a full frontal nude scene in the movie – an offer which he is said to be considering carefully.

We didn't get to see, erm, too much of Jamie Dornan in Fifty Shades of Grey, but that could all be changing in the sequel.

He has apparently been offered £970,000 to go full frontal in Fifty Shades Darker and was told he will have "creative control", whatever that means…

A source told Star magazine: "They're offering Jamie a bonus or $1.5m to do a full-frontal scene in Fifty Shades Darker, and that's just the starting figure."

"Jamie would be crazy not to consider it. They have assured Jamie that it won't be overt, but more of a brief tease – and he'll have some creative control over how it's handled," they said.

We bet his wife won't be too happy, but then again £970,000 is quite a significant amount.

We will just have to wait and see if he accepts the offer.

The sequel is due for release on February 10, 2017 and Fifty Shades Freed will be out February 9, 2018.

The first movie made $248.7 million worldwide.

Jamie Dornan fans, diaries at the ready!

Universal pictures have announced the release dates for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.

Fifty Shades Darker will be in cinemas February 10, 2017, and Fifty Shades Freed will be out February 9, 2018.

It was announced yesterday that EL James' husband, Niall Leonard, will write the script for the sequel.

The first movie made $248.7 million worldwide, so there is no doubt that the sequels are very highly anticipated.

So it looks like Mr Grey won't see us now, but sure we only have to wait two years. Better start booking our tickets.

Oh Christian, we do miss you.

Oh, Jamie – maybe you should have kept this admission to yourself…

The Fifty Shades of Grey actor was speaking about preparing for his role in the critically acclaimed TV show The Fall when he made a very creepy revelation.

In preparation for the role of serial killer Paul Spector, Jamie revealed to The LA Times that he actually stalked a woman on the London Tube – albeit ‘half-heartedly’:

“I like, followed a woman off the train one day to see what it felt to pursue someone like that … I really kept my distance and was aware that it was kind of half-hearted.”

Thankfully, Jamie soon realised that his method acting was maybe just a little creepy:

“She got off a few stops earlier than I was planning. I followed her around a couple of streets and then was like, ‘what are you doing?’ It felt kind of exciting in a really dirty way and I’m not proud of myself but I do think I learned something from it.”

Yikes, we’re glad some good came out of it then, Jamie.

Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has officially bowed out of doing any more of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise.

Sam released a statement to Deadline announcing the news, saying:

“Directing Fifty Shades Of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.”

Although it had been rumoured that the director had a falling out with author of the books, E.L. James, nothing had yet been confirmed. The creative control given to the first-time author was said to be unusual and caused arguments between two.

No replacement for Sam has yet been announced.

Let’s look on the bright side – it could have been Jamie!

Jamie Dornan has slammed rumours that his wife was not a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey.

The actor was speaking to The Daily Mail when he addressed rumours that his wife Amelia Warner didn’t like him starring as Christian Grey, calling them: “total bollocks.”

Jamie then explained that his wife was well aware of what the movie was going to be: “Of course she would have read the scripts well in advance, and she’s massively supportive of Fifty Shades.”

The Northern Irish actor also spoke about speculation that he and co-star Dakota Johnson have no chemistry, saying: “They wouldn’t have shot the film with us if there was a chemistry problem … whatever chemistry means. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a part like this, and they simply wouldn’t have cast us.”

It had also been rumoured that Jamie would not be appearing in the upcoming sequels, something his rep has already denied. Despite this, Jamie took the opportunity to assure fans that he WILL star as Christian Grey for the trilogy: “The idea was that we honour the trilogy and do all three.”

Phew – that was a lot of rumour busting for one interview, thanks Jamie!

From The Fall to Fifty Shades of Grey, Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan has been killing it worldwide in the past year.

However, it doesn’t sound as if everyone is a fan of the Hollywood-adopted hottie, with Kim Cattrall failing to see what all of the fuss is about.

She has to be joking, right?!

Speaking about Jamie to The Independent, Kim said:

“Maybe it’s my age, but he doesn’t look like a man to me. He looks like a young boy. I like men to look like men. I saw the preview [for Fifty Shades] and you know they say in three seconds you can tell if you find someone attractive or not? Well, I just thought, ‘no’.’”

Perhaps Kim just needs another chance to see Jamie with his beard!

The Sex and the City star also revealed her Irish crush, and it may not be who you are expecting…It’s Brendan Gleeson!

Kim gushed about Brendan, saying: “Now, if he [Jamie Dornan] were Brendan Gleeson – well, there’s a little something going on there, you know, the twinkle in the eye.”

Erm…Brendan Gleeson in Fifty Shades? We can’t say we had ever imagined it but each to their own we guess…

And who can blame them?

And then those that heard the news, but were unable to meet him for the bants were forced to take to Twitter to lament their horrendous luck.

We feel your pain, girl. We missed him too.

There's no doubt that Fifty Shades of Grey is one of the most anticipated films of 2015, but the publicity surrounding the film hasn't always been positive.

Leaving aside the obvious controversy regarding the film's content, the stars of EL James' adaptation have also been dogged by rumours of rifts and in-house feuding.

According to many media outlets, the set of the raunchy flick was a far from happy place, but actor Jamie Dornan has finally laid those rumours to rest.

Deciding to consider the reports that have been doing the rounds, a very diplomatic Jamie says he understands why people may want to start rumours that all was not well in the Fifty Shades camp, saying: "Look, people are going to say that because it's a story and people like to create a little bit of hype leading up to the film."

Jamie says he knows the idea of on-set feuding might make for a good story, but denies that this is the case between him and Dakota Johnson.

In fact it seems that Jamie is particularly conscious of Dakota's feelings and always made sure the star was as comfortable as possible when filming any of the more sensitive scenes in the film, saying: "If I was about to be doing something particularly heinous to Dakota, I would apologise in advance and say, 'I'm probably not going to derive a huge amount of pleasure out of this. I want you to know that."

Definitely sounds like Jamie's story checks out!

While many women across the globe are waiting with baited breath to see Irish actor Jamie Dornan in his role as Christian Grey, there is one woman who isn’t so keen – his wife!

Understandably, Amelia Warner, who has a one-year-old daughter, Dulcie with Jamie won’t be seeing Fifty Shades of Grey, which is said to contain over twenty minutes of sex scenes.

Jamie explained to USA Today: “She doesn’t want to watch this. She wants to support me and my work. I won’t be able to sit there myself. I’m not going to put any pressure on her either way. It’s her decision. She’s well aware that it’s pretend, but it’s probably not that comfortable to watch.”

Jamie’s doubt as to whether he should watch the movie himself stems from a particularly lengthy shot of his bum: “There’s quite a long shot of my [bum]. I wasn’t hugely comfortable with it when I watched it. That’s my bum. Still my bum. Wow.”

You’re right Jamie, that sounds awfully uncomfortable. Awfully, awfully…uncomfortable.
