This week has been exhausting. Mercury is in retrograde and it seems to be having an impact on everyone. People are feeling miserable and as low as ever and these dreary days ain’t helping.

We’re planning on hibernating for the weekend and binge-watching The Politician on Netflix, drinking a lot of tea and ordering enough McDonald’s to feed a small family.

One movie that is bound to cheer you up is on RTÉ2 this afternoon if, like us, you’re planning on sitting in for the day.

The Parent Trap will be on today and we’re so ready to embrace all the 90s nostalgia.

The Lindsay Lohan classic is one of the most iconic movies from our childhood so it’s safe to say we’re excited to take a trip down memory lane.

The movie follows identical twin sisters, Hallie and Annie, who meet at summer camp. The duo are determined to get their parents back together and decide to swap places at the end of the summer, but will their parents rekindle their romance?

Starring Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson, Elaine Hendrix and Lindsay Lohan in a dual role.

The Parent Trap is bound to make this weekend that little bit better for those of us feeling pretty dull.

The Parent Trap is on RTÉ2 at 15.10.

Nothing makes us feel better than a classic Disney movie. The nostalgic feelings they conjure up always cheer us up when we’re down, which is why we are so excited about Disney+.

The streaming service of our dreams is launching in the US this month but it looks like Ireland and the UK will be waiting quite some time to avail of the services.

According to Disney, the streaming service will be available here on March 31, 2020. It’s disappointing news but patience is a virtue.

The service is set to be beyond impressive with hundreds of classic Disney movies, old-school TV shows and all of the beloved High School Musical movies available to watch to your heart’s content.

We are more than ready to sob over The Lion King, swoon over Zac Efron and cringe at the style in Lizzie McGuire.

As well as Disney delights, the streaming service will also host a heap of Marvel movies, which we’re awfully excited to re-watch.

The Lizzie McGuire reboot will also be on the service, which means we are 100 percent subscribing to it once it is launched next spring.

For now, we’ll just have to dig out our old Disney DVDs and try to figure out how to use the rusty DVD player again.

Roll on March 31, 2020.

Disney has warmed our hearts on this dreary Friday morning by sharing the first teaser trailer of Aladdin. We have been dying to get a glimpse at the live-action movie.

The haunting teaser trailer opens with a shot of a desolate Agrabah as Jafar’s sidekick Iago flies through the sky.

We are then taken to the famous Cave of Wonders, where the iconic tiger mutters: “Only one may enter here… one whose worth lies far within… the diamond in the rough.”

Aladdin enters the Cave of Wonders as Jafar stands outside, waiting for his treasure.

The final shot sees Aladdin lift up the famous lamp.

The orchestral version of Never Had a Friend Like Me hauntingly plays at the end of the trailer and we are eager to hear the full soundtrack.

The live-action remake of Aladdin will follow the same storyline as the classic Disney animation.

The movie follows the tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

Ah, Disney movies.

We watched them all as kids, and honestly, most of the videos are probably lying in the back of your parent's attic.

beauty and the beast

If you thiiiink they might be sitting in a box somewhere, root them out because they could be worth a good bit of money.

Pretty52 did a little research on Ebay recently and found out that Disney VHS tapes are being sold for hundreds, if not thousands of Euro.

cinderella

A copy of Beauty and the Beast went for £4035 (€4786). It probably sold for so much because it was never opened – the tape is still on the side of the box.

And an untouched Cinderella? That went for £3632 (€4309).

fox and the hound

However, if you have opened your VHS tape (honestly, what were people doing not opening them?) fear not, because you could make some serious bank too.

A Fox and the Hound tape went for £363 (€430), while The Little Mermaid sold for £403 (€479).

If that's not enough to convince you, imagine all the make-up and clothes you could buy with that money?!
