Today, May 29th, is Biscuit Day, so if you were looking for en excuse to inhale five Chocolate HobNobs with your next cup of tea, this is it.

For the day that's in it, we've been thinking long and hard about our favourite biscuits, and the ones you're guaranteed to find in every Irish mammy's "sweets cupboard."

Just don't go eating too many at once, you'll spoil your dinner…

Digestives
Yes, they may be plain but they are fatally addictive. "Oh, I'll just have the one," Digestive eaters across the country say, as they reach for three at once.

Fruit Shortcake
The humble Fruit Shortcake is never going to be anyone's all-time favourite, but it still deserves a place on the plate of biccies. And plus, they have dried fruit in them so they're totally one of your five a day.

HobNobs
Definitely a little bit fancier than your standard biscuit, especially if it's a chocolate-covered one *swoons*

Afternoon Tea
It might already be summer, but we can guarantee your Mam still has one of these tins squirrelled away at the back of the press "just in case we have visitors." Let's face it though, they're nothing without the ill-fated Jelly Star.

Chocolate Kimberley
Lads, we're entering luxury territory here. These bad boys are only whipped out for special occasions including the neighbours calling around unexpectedly and after your tea on Sundays. Otherwise, STAY AWAY.

Bourbon Creams
This "chocolate" flavoured sandwich biscuit might be as far from real chocolate as you can get, but we'd still choose a Bourbon over a Custard Cream any day.

Jersey Creams
When you're in dire need of a sugar fix you can always be guaranteed to find half a pack of these languishing at the back of the cupboard. "Buttery flavour cream," you say? Ah, it's no Bourbon but it'll do.

Nice Biscuits
These are so light and airy that you could happily eat the whole pack without noticing. NIIIIICE.
