Breaking: Cyclist dies following collision in Phoenix Park this week

According to emerging reports, the cyclist who collided with a pedestrian in the Phoenix Park this week has died from his injuries.

The 59-year-old Cavan-native, who was living in Castleknock, was travelling on the cycle lane between Aras an Uachtaráin and the Castleknock gate when the collision took place on Monday night.

Despite having been immediately rushed to Dublin's Beaumont Hospital, it has been confirmed that the cyclist tragically died last night.

It is understood that the pedestrian involved in the collision received treatment for back and leg injuries in James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, but has since been discharged.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to the public following the tragic incident, with witnesses urged to contact Cabra Garda Station on 01 6667400, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
