We’re hooked: This site can make ANY photo into an emoji portrait

by

Los Angeles-based artist Yung Jake has attracted a huge amount of media attention of late, for his incredible celebrity portraits.

Each new piece is posted to his Instagram, but what makes these lookalike creations different from any other artist's work is that Yung Jake uses emojis for colour, texture and form. That's a lot of smileys, poops and hearts.

So far he's used his magic on everyone from Kim Kardashian…

…to some of our favourite memes.

The closest we've ever come to emoji art is using the 'dancing girls' emoji to make Saturday night plans on WhatsApp, so we were delighted to find a site that does the hard work for us.

While Yung uses an emoji doodling site called emoji.ink, where budding artists can start from scratch to create their piece, Emoji Mosaic simply asks you to upload a photo and the rest is taken care of.

We had to give the site a go, starting with Taylor Swift:

Here's Kylie Jenner (her eyes didn't turn out too well):

Happy emoji-ing!
