Weddings may have come to a halt during lockdown, but that hasn't stopped Deliveroo from celebrating love. They are offering one lucky couple the chance to win a virtual wedding breakfast.

Following Minister for Health Simon Harris’ latest update which outlined that smaller weddings could only take place later this summer, Deliveroo is looking for any Irish couples letting love prevail by preparing to make their vows virtually via video conference.

Deliveroo is offering one lucky couple, who are planning a virtual wedding celebration with their loved ones, €1,000 Deliveroo credit to go towards catering the special day.

Deliveroo will credit the lucky couple with the funds, which can be used to put towards cake, chef-cooked food and drinks for them and their guests, to help compensate for their big day taking a digital turn.

Arabella Jenkins at Deliveroo, said, “We want to celebrate love during lockdown, so we’re looking for couples whose big day is going digital.

“Just because your wedding day might be postponed doesn’t mean the date shouldn’t still be celebrated. We’re here to deliver the ultimate wedding breakfast for one lucky couple who’ve decided to host a virtual wedding ceremony, which they can spend all on themselves or share amongst close friends and family.”

Prospective couples can tag @DeliverooIE on Instagram or @Deliveroo_IE on Twitter, using the #SayIDoWithDeliveroo hashtag sharing their virtual wedding plans for the chance to have Deliveroo cater their ceremony.

One of the best parts about getting married is going on honeymoon.

The stress of the wedding can finally be forgotten about, and it's your chance to relax with your new hubby or wifey. Bliss.

But, have you ever wondered where the custom came from? We didn't either, until we read this earlier today.

According to Honeyfund, the tradition originated in the 19th century and consisted of the newlyweds travelling around together to basically visit family and friends who couldn't make it to the wedding. So, zero alone time.

It wasn't until the 20th century that honeymoons resembled the way they are today.

And as far as the term 'honeymoon'? Well, a few possible theories show that way back in the 5th century, newlyweds would drink a honey-based alcohol, widely known as mead, after their first 'moon' together, as it was believed to be a sort of aphrodisiac which could help with conception.

So, there you have it.

They were married for just three years – but a decade after their divorce; Jessica Simpson says that Nick Lachey remains her most costly mistake.

The businesswoman – now worth some €132m – was speaking on CNBC’s Closing Bell slot yesterday when she was asked about what her most expensive blunder was.

“My first marriage,” the 35-year-old star says immediately before breaking out into a smile.

During their time together, Jessica and Nick, 41, famously appeared in three series of the hit reality MTV show, Newlyweds.

It made them both international stars, but they filed for divorce in December 2005; they had said ‘I do,’ during a lavish ceremony held in her native Texas in October 2002.

Both Ms Simpson and Mr Lachy now have children from their current relationships: he has been married to Vanessa Minnillo since 2011, while she wed Eric Johnson last year following a lengthy engagement.

Earlier this year, Jessica said she'd have a “panic attack,” if she had to watch an episode of Newlyweds now.

Stephen Fry and his husband, Elliott Spencer, have been forced to shorten their honeymoon because of homophobia.

The newlyweds tied the knot in January, and have been travelling around the world ever since.

The couple were enjoying their holidays in Honduras when they had to leave because of anti-gay sentiments towards them.

It is not clear exactly what incident occurred but the Mail Online reported that Mr Spencer said “we had a problem when we visited Honduras on holiday.”

“It was homophobia. I don’t want to go into detail, but we had to leave.”

While homosexuality is not a criminal act in the Central American country, it is believed that there is hostility towards gay people. Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Honduras.

The 27-year-old married the QI host six months ago in a registry office in Stephen’s home county before they began their traveling honeymoon.

Elliot opened up about the many trips he has taken with his new husband who is 30-years older than him. “Many of the countries Stephen’s been to before, but he likes to see them through new eyes with me,” the self-proclaimed comedian revealed.

“It has been an amazing experience,” he added.

Let’s hope that the newlyweds aren’t deterred and go on to have the trip that they deserve.
