Forget the Fashion Week catwalks or the pages of Vogue, when it comes to predicting next season's trends, look no further than Google.

The search engine giant released their first ever Fashion Trends Report this week, delving into search data between January 2012 and February 2015 to figure out what fashion-related terms have become more (or less) popular in the last 12 months.

The results are only specific to the USA but considering it's home to some of fashion's biggest publications and events, we reckon the report is a good predictor for trends in the rest of the world too.

Here's what you can expect to see more of on the high street this year, based on the top search terms…

Tulle skirts
Searches for "tulle skirt" have risen 34% in the last year. As well as wanting to know where to buy them, we're also loving the DIY options, with "how to make" and "tutorial" two of the most common related search terms. As for lengths, forget the tutu as it's all about maxi and midi tulle skirts at the moment. And yes, Carrie Bradshaw also featured.

Waist trainers
Most likely thanks to the Kardashian sisters, searches for "waist trainer" have been on the rise over the last few months, and Google predicts it's a trend that's "about to take off." Have you got yours yet?

Palazzo pants
These are definitely one of summer's most on-trend pants, and it's been reflected in our search habits, as Google pinpoints palazzos as another rising trend.

Jogger pants
Sports luxe is for 2015, and jogger pants are one of the strongest trends in Google's data. As well as leather and camo joggers, emoji-patterned pairs were also high in our search history. In fact, searches for "emoji pants" have grown a whopping 58,998% in popularity in the last year. We love our smiley faces so we do.

Midi skirts
Another powerful trend for the last year, Google reckons the midi skirt is only going to get more popular. Our favourite midi skirt fabrics? Leather, faux leather, sequins and chiffon.
