Ed Sheeran seems to be the man of the moment when it comes to performing at weddings, and one major footballer is counting on him as the entertainment for his special day.

Frank Lampard and his long-time fiancée, Christine Bleakley have been engaged for four years and until now were in no rush to walk down the aisle.

The New York City FC footballer and TV presenter are set to tie the knot on December 20, at which Ed will provide the entertainment for their wedding guests, according to The Sun.

Frank and Christine are believed to have picked The Arts Club – a private members-only club – in Central London and are only inviting close friends and family.

The groom's guests will include his former England team mates John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney as well as Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

Although the Daily Mail is reporting that Ed may not be able to perform due to scheduling conflicts but is trying to move a few things around in order to be in London on the day.

Recently, Frank revealed that he is "very ready" to marry his partner of six years.

Appearing on Loose Women, he said: "We are very ready. We are going to do a small and pretty intimate [wedding], not a surprise thing, we like our privacy and keeping it to ourselves."

Ed Sheeran has been expanding his reach from making music to producing it too, and his latest signing has us very excited.

Taking to Twitter earlier this morning, the singer revealed the identity of his newest protegée – none other than Northern Irish musician Foy Vance.

Ed – who launched Gingerbread Man Records earlier this year – called Foy "one of my all time favourite artists and inspirations."

The Bangor-born singer is best known for his track Guiding Light, which caught Ed's attention back in 2013.

Having collaborated with Ed on various tracks – including a Guiding Light duet – Foy has supported Ed on various North American and Australian dates during his X World Tour this year.

But the pair have been friends for over four years, after meeting at an Arthur's Day gig in Dublin back in 2011. In fact, they marked their "bromance" by getting matching tattoos of a Guiding Light lyric while touring in Pittsburgh. Cute!

The first Gingerbread Man signing, Jamie Lawson, has had something of a career makeover since being taken under Ed's wing.

Irish fans will know Jamie for his 2011 single, Wasn't Expecting That, a highly emotional song about a man looking back on many beautiful memories with his wife after she is diagnosed with cancer.

Jamie's single only ever had an Irish release, but this year it was re-launched and has since gone double platinum in Australia and New Zealand. Indeed, the video – released in August 2015 – has a whopping 6.6m views on YouTube.

It seems Ed's making something of a pattern of helping little-known indie musicians to bring their music to a larger audience. Like Foy, Jamie supported Ed on various shows during the X tour, mainly in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

If you're interested in hearing more of Foy's music, Ed confirmed this morning that a free download of his single She Burns is available on FoyVance.com now.

He dropped out of school at 16 to focus on his music career, but that doesn't mean Ed Sheeran isn't going to get the full college experience.

The singer spent an evening mastering the delicate art of beer pong at Duke University in North Carolina this week… and documented the whole night on Snapchat.

Ed was in the college town of Chapel Hill to spend some quality time with his rumoured new girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn (sorry ladies).

The old friends met at Thomas High School in Suffolk in their teens, and reconnected on Twitter earlier this year. Cherry now lives in the US full-time while working for Deloitte in New York, after graduating with a Management Studies Master's Degree from Duke last year.

The Suffolk-born beauty is also a champion field hockey player, who has played for Duke's Blue Devils and also for the English Under-21 team.

Ed and Cherry first sparked rumours of a romance last month when they were spotted together at a baseball game in New York, and after making the pilgrimage to North Carolina with her, we reckon the singer is 100% smitten.

Ed and his rumoured flame returned to Cherry's alma mater for a night of boozing and beer pong-ing – though he's definitely not the most skilled player we've ever seen.

Needless to say, the entire population of Duke University had a meltdown after hearing the Thinking Out Loud singer was on campus:

After their party, the couple headed to a nearby bar and back to a USC frat house, before grabbing some fast food on campus at 3am… as you do.

With his ten-month world tour almost over, Ed Sheeran is finally planning to get some sense of normality back in his life.

First up on his list of things to work on is quitting smoking. The singer says his habit has only gotten worse over the last year, and this month he's decided to quit for good.

"The reason I kind of liked smoking so much was just it was a routine," he told Ellen DeGeneres yesterday.

"Do a soundcheck, have a cigarette, do a gig, have a cigarette, have food, have a cigarette… now I'm not going to be touring and working for a while."

Although he started smoking in his early teens, Ed says he never considered himself "a smoker" until he realised he'd been doing it for a decade.

"I started smoking when I was younger and I’d always say, like ‘I’m gonna quit. I’m gonna quit'

"And then, 'Oh well, I haven’t been smoking for that long. It’s been, what, four years like that…' and then when it got to 10 years, I was like, 'Oh… I’m probably getting to the point of no return here.'"

Having given up both cigarettes and alcohol for a year back in 2011, the Thinking Out Loud hitmaker is hoping he has what it takes to quit smoking for good – though so far it's only been ten days.

"It's cold turkey," he told Ellen.

Ed has been open about his drug and alcohol use in the past, and though he has dabbled in hard drugs and marijuana he says it's not a frequent thing.

"There have been a couple of times over the past few years, but it’s not a regular thing," he said of his drug use last year.

"It happens when I’m under an immense amount of stress and pressure, and things just build up. But it’s not as dark as people make out. It’s educational."

Of course, he did admit in a previous 2014 interview that he once "fell in love with a beanbag" while taking ecstasy in Ibiza and ended up ordering six of them online. Sounds very educational to us…

Now, we know that Ed Sheeran is possibly the nicest and coolest guy in the whole world.

He paid off his friend's mortgage, appeared in our fave soap Home and Away AND he is rumoured to officiate Friends star Courteney Cox's wedding in Ireland – so it's no wonder so many people flock to stadiums to see his gigs.

The Thinking Out Loud singer is earning €88,000 per concert on his current world tour, according to the Daily Mirror. The paper reported that his tour earnings are outlined in accounts filed at Companies House.

It is claimed that Ed earned €8.6m from the first part of his tour. However, the Mirror says "the accounts show the company had assets totaling nearly €9.2m. Ed had €6.2m costs to pay, leaving the company €3m in profit."

But that's just live shows alone, Mr Sheeran also earned €4.7m from record sales and royalties.

The Sunday Times placed Ed seventh on its rich list of musicians under 30 this year, and from these figures it's not hard to see why.

Ed Sheeran fans, get the popcorn ready for 6.30pm tonight.

Earlier in the year Ed filmed a cameo on popular Aussie soap Home And Away, and though it's already aired Down Under, Irish viewers have yet to see the singer's appearance.

But that's about the change this evening as RTÉ2 are finally set to air the episode.

The Thinking Out Loud singer will make a visit to Summer Bay to visit his old nanny, Marilyn Chambers, played by long-standing cast member Emily Symons.

When Marilyn tells residents that her darling 'Teddy' is coming to see her, nobody is any the wiser… until Ed himself shows up and treats the town to a surprise performance in The Diner.

Ed headed to Summer Bay in the middle of his hectic Australia and New Zealand touring schedule, but he says giving up his precious free time was a no-brainer.

It's an Australian institution. It's always on in my local chip shop," he said.

"I got asked to do it and it sounded like it could be fun. I did Shortland Street in New Zealand… and I'm sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well."

We can't wait to see tonight's episode.

It official. Ed Sheeran is truly one of the nicest people in the WORLD.

It's recently been revealed that the signer paid off one of his friend's mortgages with a song credit.

The 24-year-old was helping his long-time friend Amy Wadge, who was struggling financially until Ed let her contribute to his last album.

Ed revealed to the Mirror: "She was going through financial troubles about a year ago."

"She drove to my house – my album was nearly done – and she asked if I could put a song from when I was 17 on the deluxe album, so she could get a little bit of money and pay the mortgage and bills and stuff."

"While she was there, we wrote Thinking Out Loud. Now she never has to worry about money again."

Amy admitted to the Mirror that things had gotten pretty bad.

"I'm not going to lie and say things hadn't got financially difficult. My publishing advance had run out and I wasn't seeing my family at all."

And not only has she been enjoying her new-found richness – Thinking Out Loud has gone platinum three times – she's now writing for other major stars in the business like Ben Haenow and Geri Halliwell.

Ed Sheeran might be our one and only, but when it comes to style, Ruby Rose wins out.

The stars co-hosted at the MTV European Music Awards in Milan last night, taking to the stage at the Mediolanum Forum in front of a crowd of thousands.

Ruby won the audience over from thirty seconds in when she welcomed "ladies, gentlemen… and everyone in between" in her opening speech, after wowing on the red carpet in this stunning Armani Prive look, complete with a cane.

As for Ed, it was hard to tell if his cheeky humour and rambling monologues were the result of nerves or a few too many backstage drinks:

Performers on the night included Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber, Pharrell, Jess Glynne, Ellie Goulding – and Ed himself who sang his new track with Rudimental.

Of course, it wouldn't be the EMA's without a LOT of costume changes, and Ruby didn't disappoint – here's a selection of her other looks.

This spaghetti-themed dress was in honour of World Pasta Day – it was an Italian venue after all.

Then came this AH-MAZING white pantsuit with point-toed stilettos:

Followed by this black ball gown with lip embellishments that even brought Ed to his knees:

Another winner was this white-and-red Grecian look, complete with killer motorcycle boots:

And to finish things off, our favourite look of the night – leather, leather, leather.

Gorgeous!

First One Direction, then Taylor Swift and now Ed Sheeran… seems like the pop stars of the world have been plotting to make 2016 their most chilled out year yet.

Ed revealed today that he plans to take a break for at least nine months next year, after a packed ten months of touring the globe.

The singer flew out to Australia in March just days after splitting up with his then-girlfriend Athina Andrelos, and has barely had a day off since.

So it's no surprise that he hopes to clear his schedule for a large chunk of 2016 and simply take some time restoring "normality" in his life.

"I think a break for me is coming off my phone, social media and emails," he told The Sun.

"I am constantly on my phone, texting, replying to emails, on Twitter, on Snapchat, on Facebook."

Ed is generally quite open on social media, and says he simply plans to tell his followers and fans that he needs some time off.

"I'll put a post out saying, 'I'm with friends and family – if you love me you'll allow me to disappear for a few months and I'll speak to you in a bit.'"

"I just want to get off it [social media] and live and drive to places and listen to music and have normal conversations with people and get back to normality."

The singer is currently finishing up the UK leg of his X World Tour, before heading back to Australia and New Zealand to round things off with five final gigs.

"I've got a packed schedule, then, when December 12 comes, it's done," he said.

Looking for a doctor? Ed Sheeran could be just the man.

For most people, graduating from college takes a little more effort than just putting on a cap and gown, but it seems in Ed's case it really was that easy.

The singer appeared at the University Campus Suffolk yesterday to receive an honourary doctorate – and he looked every bit the proud graduate in his red, blue and yellow ensemble.

A photo posted by @teddysphotos on

"I graduated today, I am now officially Dr. Sheeran," the X hitmaker wrote on Instagram last night,

Despite having left school aged 16, Ed was awarded the degree by the university in his hometown as recognition of his "outstanding contribution" to music.

"I wasn't joking, I am actually a doctor now, that's how mad this world is," Ed added on Twitter.

He may not be a real doctor, but his songs have probably helped mend quite a few broken hearts… and that's good enough for the people of Suffolk.

It's been an exciting week for the singer, who may have also landed himself a role in the upcoming Bridget Jones' Baby after granting the cast and crew access to one of his recent concerts.

"Ed was really keen to be part of the movie after granting access to film at his gig," a source told The Sun.

Wonder if they'll call him Dr Ed in the credits?

Could Ed Sheeran be the next big movie star?!

The Thinking Out Loud singer could be starring alongside Renee Zellweger, Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth after it was reported he landed a speaking role in the latest Bridget Jones movie.

Ed already plays a small part in the new film, after scenes were filmed at his Croke Park concert earlier this year, but the songwriter also wants a speaking role in the highly-anticipated Bridget Jones' Baby, according to The Sun

A source told the newspaper: "Ed was really keen to be part of the movie after granting access to film at his gig."

"He's got experience playing himself in Home And Away and is not daunted by the prospect of starring alongside Renee."

It is reported that he is up against one other star but the chances are on his side to land the bigger role.

If Mr Sheeran does nab the part, we think this movie could be the best installment yet!

There's still no news of an official date for Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid's upcoming Irish nuptials, but we're loving all the rumours so far.

And while this latest piece of news might seem a bit off-the-wall at first, we reckon it could definitely be likely to happen.

Singer Ed Sheeran has reportedly signed on to officiate Courteney and Johnny's wedding, standing at the alter on the big day to lead the ceremony.

Having a BFF (or just someone very famous) officiating your wedding seems to be the done thing of late – in fact Courteney's close pal Jennifer Aniston was married by Jimmy Kimmel just a couple of months ago.

And last month Girls actress Allison Williams had Tom Hanks on hand to oversee her wedding to Ricky Van Veen.

Fans of Courteney will know that Ed was in fact the one who set her and Johnny up back in 2013, having introduced them while he was living rent-free in Court's Malibu beach house.

Just last month it was reported that Ed would be present to sing at the wedding, strongly rumoured to be taking place at the luxurious Ashford Castle in Cong, Co. Mayo.

Cougar Town star Courteney is said to have been very taken with the five star hotel when she and Johnny visited it as a possible wedding venue last August.

"Johnny took Courteney to Ireland to meet his family and they fell in love with Ashford Castle,” a source told The Sun at the time.

Usher, officiant or wedding singer… Which is it gonna be, Ed?
