To promote European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, CervicalCheck are giving out gorgeous pearl pins to promote their Pearl of Wisdom campaign and help you to #sharethewisdom.
In Ireland, approximately 300 women in Ireland are diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer each year and over 90 women die from the disease.
Our greatest weapon in the fight against cervical cancer is our national screening programme CervicalCheck, which provides smear tests free of charge to women between ages of 25 and 60.
If you are not currently sexually active but have had at least one partner in the past, it’s recommend that you continue going for smear tests.
If you have never had a smear test or aren’t sure if you’re registered, you can visit CervicalCheck.ie to find out. You can register with the programme, find out when your next test is due, locate your nearest test provider or even change personal details.
To claim your free pearl pin, call Freephone 1800 45 45 55. You can wear it yourself or give it to a loved one to remind them to look after their health.
If you’re on Twitter or Facebook, post a selfie with your Pearl of Wisdom, using the hashtag #sharethewisdom? Let your friends and followers know how important it is to have regular smear tests – that tiny gesture could save a life.
