It’s been less than two weeks since we revealed national heartthrobs Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan would be appearing on The Late Late Show.

And while we totally understand that we can’t be treated to such big names every single week, is a sheep really the next best thing to Jamie and Cillian?

Along with British adventurer Bear Grylls, Wedding Crashers star Jane Seymour and Irish musician BP Fallon, a sheep will appear in RTÉ studios this Friday night.

OK so Tubs isn’t exactly going to conduct an interview with the woolly creature, but – according to rte.ie – world record sheep shearer Ivan Scott will be using the animal to demonstrate his impressive skillset live in studio.

With a line-up like that you can’t say The Late Late is any ordinary chat show.

Thanks to technology, we can now do countless things we wouldn't have dreamed of as kids.

Video chatting with someone halfway across the world, managing our lives through our phone, recording TV shows without having to put a big dirty 'DON'T TAPE OVER THIS' sticker on the VHS cassette… the list goes on.

Sky Ireland recently launched Sky Q TV, a home entertainment system with some seriously futuristic features. Like the Pause And Carry On option, for example, which allows you to pause whatever programme you're watching and pick it up elsewhere, be it on your phone, tablet or another TV.

Little inventions like that just instantly make our lives SO much easier, which got us thinking about what other potential things we'd love to see making their debut…

1. Moisturiser that instantly makes it look like we've had eight hours sleep
Puffy eyes, be gone.

2. An 'unsend message' button on Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, Tinder…
You know when you write a message in the WRONG thread, and it's just sitting in their phone, waiting to be read? Yeah, that.

3. A Cold Tea Alarm
Taking a massive swig of your tea only to realise it's gone ice cold without you noticing is an injustice that must be stopped.

4. An alarm clock that would actually MAKE us get up
Unless someone is literally shaking us, poking us or shouting in our ear, we're gonna fall back to sleep. Sorry 'bout that.

5. Negative calorie chocolate
You burn more calories digesting celery than the celery actually contains. Can someone invent a chocolate with similar properties, please?

6. A way to snap your fingers at night and instantly be in bed, teeth brushed and make-up free
The move from the cosy couch to the freezing bathroom never, ever gets easier.

7. An eyebrow grower
No, not just a thickener, an instant eyebrow grower. Make it happen.

8. A machine that can perfectly apply winged eyeliner
Because nine times out of ten we end up looking like a drunk squirrel drew ours on

9. A Find My Umbrella/Find My Keys/Find My Change For The Bus app
If they can do it with phones, they can do it with that rogue lipstick you lost somewhere down the side of your bed three months ago.

Make your life easier with one invention that actually DOES exist – Sky Q TV.

Oh, and did we mention it comes with a 'Find My Remote' feature? Thank us later.

You may not want to admit it, but at some point in you relationship things are going to move from steamy and exciting to stay in and chill. So, when it comes to thinking about how compatible you and your new significant other are, people are taking their Netflix que and DVD collection into account more than ever.

The thousands of internet memes that propose we should look into using our Netflix accounts as an online match making service are finally becoming a reality. Netfling is hyping itself up as the best way to "find your perfect couch companion."

netfling

Working much like Tinder, just without having to use a Facebook account to sort through your possible matches. Netfling would rely on your Netflix information to find people who watch the same TV series and films you do.

So there will actually be a real-life verson of 'here's 25 other singles who just watched seven series of Grey's Anatomy'.

The people at Netfling are making the claim that: “The secret to a happy relationship isn’t communication…it’s having the same Netflix taste.”

Considering there has been a dating app that bases your possible love interests on their pet ownership status, among many more bizarre dating services, we are considering Netfling might be a success. Look, winter is a long season with shorter days and chilly, wet weather. It is a time when we will shamelessly indulge in lazy evenings on the couch, so why not make the most of it?

The argument can also be made that people's taste in TV will tell you a lot about them, but also maybe too much. Do we really want potential suitors to know just how much time we spend watching Say Yes To The Dress? Hmmm.

At the very least though, you will know that you have at least two common interests: TV and online dating. Recipe for success, yes?

With a weekend of lashing rain forecast, it seems our hopes of an Indian summer have been dashed.

But bad weather and darker evenings aren't all bad, as it gives us every excuse to curl up in front of the telly with a cup of tea. Luckily for us couch addicts, there are some seriously great new homegrown shows hitting TV screens this autumn and winter.

Here are a few we can't wait to check out.

F**k Cancer, RTÉ2
Earlier this year, 2fm host Louise McSharry was given the all-clear from Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but the documentary takes us back in time to her diagnosis and subsequent treatment. This is an honest, emotional and truthful look at cancer, something that has affected the lives of so many of us. F**k Cancer is part of Reality Bites, RTÉ2's ongoing series of one-off documentaries. Watch it Thursday 17th September at 9.30pm.

Panti: The Queen of Ireland, RTÉ2
Work on this documentary started almost five years ago, long before Rory O'Neill's alter ego Panti Bliss became a household name worldwide.  Follow Ireland's most famous drag queen as she leads the campaign for LGBT rights in this country and around the world. Another Reality Bites documentary, though no air date has been confirmed just yet.

Vogue's Mean Girls, RTÉ2
This three-part documentary series follows Irish model Vogue Williams as she meets women who are living their lives on the edge. Sex workers, MMA fighters, reformed gang members and criminals on death row… Mean Girls is not one for the faint-hearted.

Crumlin, RTÉ1
Have the tissues at the ready for this in-depth look at life in Our Lady's Childrens' Hospital in Crumlin, filmed on the wards over eight months. Doctors, nurses, patients and parents all feature in this emotional look at the world of paediatric medicine. The series started last night, Thursday September 10th.

A Week To My Wedding, RTÉ1
We love a good wedding reality show, and RTÉ has capitalised on the success of Say Yes To The Dress with their own romantic series. A Week To My Wedding follows six couples in, you've guessed it, the week leading up to their wedding day. We're already looking forward to the Bridezilla tantrums…

Saturday AM/Sunday AM, TV3
Ireland's most popular morning news and entertainment show just expanded to the weekends. Saturday AM and Sunday AM kicked off last month, presented by Laura Woods, Anna Daly, Ivan Yates, Tommy Martin and Simon Delaney… with a more lie-in friendly start time of 9am.

Bridget and Eamon, RTÉ2
Ireland's favourite Eighties mammy and daddy have landed their own series, starring Jennifer Maguire and Bernard O'Shea. We have high hopes for this series… expect to see lots of shoulder pads, indoor smoking and wooden spoon waving.

The University Challenge generally keeps things relatively conservative when it comes to fashion.

There tends to be plenty of warm looking jumpers and chinos, alongside the requisite shirts. Alast night however, a contestant came along who really shook things up for viewers.

The team from King’s College Cambridge was comprised of Lin, Mariani, Smith and Shah. Shah, had many viewers confused as whether they were watching an bunch of intellects show off their giant brains, or Shah introduce his new hip-hip album.

With his vest and gold chains, Shah certainly raised the fashion stakes for the other contestants.

Social media users just couldn’t help themselves but have a laugh at what an unusual sight it was indeed.
