Anyone who grew up in the noughties will remember JoJo’s Leave (Get Out), but since then little has been heard about the American singer-songwriter.

So we're delighted to learn that the former child star is about to make her long-awaited return to music and that she is only mad to pay our little green island a visit.

In an MTV question and answer session which was streamed through Facebook Live today, JoJo revealed that Ireland is one of the places she would most like to travel to.  She said: “I would love to go to Ireland.  I have a shamrock right here [points to her finger], I have a place in south Boston so I feel I have a connection with Ireland.”

The singer – who released her debut album at the age of 12 – has been engaged in a major legal battle with her former record label for almost seven years as she claims Blackground Records caused her career “irreparable damage” by delaying the release of her third album.

When asked to explain the story behind the song I Am, the star replied: “There was a time that I was going through where I was suing my record label for the second time and I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be able to get out of that situation.  And I was really depressed and I felt like I was really weak.”

“So I went to my therapist and I was saying all these negative things and she called me out on it.  [She explained that] your words have a lot of power and by saying things like ‘I am weak, I am broken, I am tired, I am depressed’ you might stay in that state.”

The therapist encouraged JoJo to write a list of positive ‘I ams’ in a process which eventually inspired the song.

Since she last released music JoJo has been through a lot as on top of her legal dispute the 25-year-old recently admitted that in the early noughties she was so desperate to lose weight she began injecting herself with supplements while only eating 500 calories a day.

Thankfully she has since returned to a healthy body weight and is releasing her latest album Mad Love this October.

Welcome back, JoJo!

JoJo has opened up about the extreme lengths she went to in the early 2000s to lose weight.

In an interview with Popsugar, the 25-year-old revealed that she felt such an intense pressure to lose weight, and she even began injecting herself with supplements.

The pop star also admitted to undergoing a very strict and unhealthy diet, telling Popsugar that she "ate 500 calories a day."

"I was injecting myself, it makes your body only need certain calories, so I ate 500 calories a day. It was the most unhealthy thing I've ever done."

JoJo did not elaborate on the injections, but stated that she was roughly 17 when it all began, and she was no longer under her mother's management.

She explained her reasons for doing the extreme diet, highlighting the pressure she felt about her career and success.

"I felt like, 'If I don't do this, my album won't come out'."

JoJo has since gained back the weight she lost, and is happy about that, claiming that she no longer feels the pressure to follow other people.

"What you think about yourself and the decisions you make is what's most important!"

We could not agree more!

Singer JoJo has just released three new tracks in a package she's calling her "tringle".

The singer – who seemed to drop off the face of the earth for a few years – is now prepping for her third album release.

Yesterday evening the singer dropped three new songs on her website, called Say Love, Save My Soul and When Love Hurts

It's been ten years (!) since the singer kick started her career with Leave (Get Out), and it looks like she's finally ready for a comeback.

The Massachusetts-born singer was just 13 when she created her first album, but things went sour with her record company soon after.

JoJo went through a major lawsuit for nearly seven years against her former label Blackground Records, saying they caused her career "irreparable damage" by delaying the release of her third album.

Whenever she’d try to turn in a new album, she’d get no response from Blackground. But because she’d signed a seven-album deal with the label when she was only 12, JoJo was unable to break her contract.

She first filed a lawsuit in 2009 against Blackground, citing a breach of contract, alleging the label failed to secure distribution for her album and forced her into a state of limbo.

But JoJo lost the lawsuit and was forced to stay with the record company for the years following.

Finally in 2013, JoJo had no choice but to file a major suit with the New York State Supreme Court, citing failure on the part of the label to release her third album and neglecting to pay producers she worked with.

After winning her second lawsuit battle the singer signed with Atlantic Records last December and has been working on her new album ever since.
