New York City cops are among the toughest on the planet.

But when it comes to meeting their idols, it turns out they're just like the rest of us mere mortals.

Case in point: this female cop who struggled to maintain her composure upon meeting Conor McGregor who will be drawing in the crowds at New York's Madison Square Garden this Saturday night.

After telling him she was Irish, she and Conor shared a hug in a moment which has melted the hearts of everyone here at SHEmazing! HQ today.

"My knees are still shaking, Besides my kids being born, this is one of the best days of my life," she said after getting a selfie with the Dublin sport star.

Ah lads, we needed this today.

He may have and happily maintain (for obvious reasons) the hard man reputation, but it looks like Conor McGregor is an absolute softie at heart if his latest Instagram post is anything to go by.

Taking to social media late last night, the UFC star shared his sweeter side by posting a selfie of himself with a young fan.

After realising that the little girl didn't have a camera to hand upon meeting him, the Crumlin-native decided to snap the picture on his own phone before proudly sharing it with the world online.

Alongside the snap which has clocked up a staggering 548,000 likes in just 15 hours, 28-year-old Conor paid tribute to his little fan, writing: "To the little lady who left her phone at home…"

Instagram, unsurprisingly, fell all over themselves after seeing the photo, with one follower writing: "What a gem."

"Brilliant fighter and brilliant guy, 2 title champ!" wrote another while a fellow follower added: "So cute. Not many would take the time to do this."

Would you LOOK at the cuteness of that?!

Mel Gibson is in Dublin, and it seems like he's having a great ol' time.

The actor is in the capital for the next EIGHT weeks to film The Professor and The Madman alongside Sean Penn (yep, here's also here ladies).

But it's not all work for the Hollywood star, as he took some time out on Monday night to enjoy some food in FX Buckley's on Pembroke Street.

The restaurant shared a photo with the star and captioned it, "When Mel Gibson is in Dublin he eats at FX Buckley.

"He has kidneys and a medium rare fillet."

Conor McGregor has sparked rumours he is OR already has tied the knot to long-time love, Dee Devlin.

The Dublin native shared a photo of him and Dee in a lift and captioned it, "The McGregor's," and nothing else. No love-heart emojis, no winky faces. Nothing.

Note: Dee is also hiding her hands (wedding ring?):

The pair have been together for nearly eight years now, after having met in a nightclub.

Fans obviously went into overdrive when Conor posted the picture, but so far no questions have been answered.

We're going to have to wait to find out!

He may be one of the more controversial sports stars to emerge from Ireland in recent years, but it looks like Conor McGregor may have gone too far this time.

The UFC fighter, who recently defeated Nate Diaz, has taken a battering on Instagram after uploading a photograph of himself posing with a machine gun.

Dressed in a robe with his finger on the trigger, Conor sparked serious debate among his followers – many of whom insist the picture is in bad taste.

"You have kids that's look up to you dude stop being such an arrogant a**hole bro," wrote one of the Dubliner's followers this morning.

You need people like me.

Remarking on the upload which 28-year-old Conor captioned 'You need people like me', a fan of the star wrote: "As huge a McGregor fan as I am, holy f*ck does that look unnatural. Also the finger on the trigger makes me cringe."

"Last photo i thought I'd ever see you in..all the sh*t going on with guns and you pose that," added another.

While some Instagram users condemned the star for glorifying gun culture, others took a more lighthearted approach and pulled Conor up on the juvenile nature of the shot.

"I know you are a fighting champion, but why do you look like a 6 year old on Christmas Day in this photo?" asked one.

Something tells us Conor would be more put out by that than anything else…

After his victory on Saturday night, Conor McGregor has now been suspended from UFC for six months.

In his second match against Nate Diaz, Conor went the full distance of five rounds, however he has now received a six month medical suspension for injuring his left foot and ankle.

If you watched the match, then you'll know what Conor used his left leg to weaken Nate's leg, and while it took a toll on Nate during the match, it's Conor who is feeling the consequences.

According to the Irish Examiner, the MMA star will be out of action until February 2017.

He sent his fans into meltdown in April when he tweeted about retiring, but now, Conor McGregor has finally opened up.

"I was in Iceland, chilling. I sent it on my phone," he said on The MMA Hour.

"Straight onto Twitter. Boom, boom, boom. 'I'm outta here, thanks for the cheese, catch ya's all later. See ya!' Then off to the gym," he recounted.

"Then, I came back from the gym and, all of a sudden, the thing is f*cking everywhere.

"That was another crazy experience. This life is a rollercoaster."

However, he also admitted that he could very well have retired that day, but decided to relax with a drink instead.

"If it came down to it I would have [retired] but good luck trying to keep an Irishman away from a fight.

“That night, I had a f*cking drink, went out. I was like ‘f*ck everybody, I am out of here’.”

Everyone was shocked when Conor McGregor lost to Nate Diaz – but now, all Conor wants is revenge.

Nate knocked out our UFC World Champion in the second round in their last fight together, and now, Conor wants to return the favour.

While speaking on a conference call with the press, Conor said: “If I was to make a prediction which I will right now, I believe I will repay the favour and KO him inside the second round.

“I know I said I was going to stop the guy in the first round but if I really look at it I thought he has a solid chin, he’s durable, he’s very experienced.

"He has the size and the weight on me and I think that was the wrong thing to go in expecting the first round finish," he said.

“But respect to him. He stuck it out and he was durable, he was experienced. He weathered the storm.

“I’m still going to march forward, I’m still going to press him, I’m still going to bust him. There’s just going to be a lot more in my tank. I’m going to be a lot more prepared for a man that can stay in there with me.

“But even still, I struggle to give him past round three.”

Conor McGregor is a very happy camper this morning.

Last week he was nominated for two ESPY Awards and last night the Irish fighter WON Best Fighter of the Year.

The awards, which are hosted by US TV network ABC, were an extremely glitzy affair last night with the world's most glamorous sports stars stepping out on the red carpet.

He was also nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete but that award went to Jake Arrieta, an American baseball player.

Conor wrote on Instagram to thank his fans: "It is an honour to take 'Best Fighter' at the prestigious ESPY awards!

"I am deep in preparation to come take out everyone that has spoke my name in vain. I will get you all."

Ah, Conor, never change.
