Vintage wedding wear might be having a moment, but Abby Kingston's decision to wear a dress that was over a century old wasn't a sartorial one.

The bride, who was raised in Pennsylvania, will get married next month in a 120-year old dress that's been worn by 10 other women in her family.

Abby's great-great-grandmother first wore the dress back in 1895, and from there it was passed down through generations, with its last outing in 1991.

And 24 years on, the dress required a lot of repair to make it wearable again.

"The sleeves were disintegrating, the dress was filled with holes and the satin had turned an unattractive brown," local paper Lehigh Valley Live reports.

"I thought, 'It's just not possible,'" Abby told the paper. "I'm just not going to be able to wear it."

Luckily, after a whopping 200 hours of design work, the Victorian-era dress has been restored to its original glory.

To balance things out (and avoid further damage to the delicate dress), Abby will wear a new gown for her walk down the aisle, and will change into the family dress for cocktail hour afterward.

But it won't be in her care for long… as a 12th family member is already interested.
