Oh no! Nanny Pat from TOWIE passes away after a short illness

Mark Wright's grandmother, known as Nanny Pat, has sadly passed away after suffering from a short illness. 

Her family have confirmed that the 80-year-old passed away early today. 

"Sadly our amazing, courageous and beautiful Nanny Pat passed away this morning after a short illness.

"We are overwhelmed by sadness, and the whole family ask for privacy at this horrible time," said the family.

The news comes as the family, including Mark Wright, Jessica Wright and Michelle Keegan enjoyed a trip to New York together. Jessica shared a number of photo's last night on social media, just hours before her grandmother's death. 

Nanny Pat was a much loved part of the TOWIE crew, and celebrated her 80th birthday during an episode of the show in November. 

Pat is leaving behind five children, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren – all of whom she was very close to, as seen on the reality show.
