Grab your best gals – these Dublin city outdoor music gigs are CLASS

by

Summertime is gal time; so with three precious months to make the most of we’re always on the hunt for a reason to get dressed up, quaff Prosecco and take many, many selfies. Sure we’ll be shivering in our winter coats before long, right?

And we reckon you can’t really beat a city centre festival-style gig for a great girls night out. Music, craic, the opportunity to legitimately cover ourselves in glitter without looking like weirdos…

Which is precisely why we’re gathering up the squad and heading to Leopardstown Racecourse to catch two of Ireland biggest acts at Bulmers Live: retro-tastic sensations The Strypes on Aug 4, and rock icons The Boomtown Rats (it’s a rat trap baby, and you’ve been caught – DUH NU NUUUH) on Aug 11.

If they’re not on your radar yet, Cavan foursome The Strypes are making waves internationally with their 60s sound (some fella called Paul McCartney has given them the thumbs up) while we defy you not to screech “Tell Me Why I Don’t Like Mondays” when Bob Geldof takes to the stage with The Boomtown Rats.

The gigs kick off at 8.45pm both nights, but if you fancy having a bit of flutter beforehand, there’s horseracing on both days too – and all for a very-sound-to-your-bank-account €18.

Doors open at 4pm, so why not rock up and make a day out of it by placing a bet, grabbing a pre-gig bite from the food court or sipping some bevvies in the sun.

Leopardstown Racecourse is easy and breezy to get to off the M50, or if you’re coming from Dublin City Centre just pop on the Luas Green Line at Stephen’s Green and get off at the Sandyford / Brewery Road stop.
