Can you believe that it’s been 20 years since Matilda went all ‘no-hands’ on that bowl of Cheerios?

Yeah, we couldn’t either, but it’s true and no one knows how fast time flies better than Matilda herself. The actress who played the child genius turned 28 yesterday and as the Huffington Post reminded us, next Sunday will be the 20 year anniversary of the film’s original release.

Based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name, the film became an instant classic when it was released.

Mara Wilson, who played Matilda alongside Danny de Vito and Embeth Davidtz (who played Miss Honey and also McDreamy's sister Nancy for any Grey's Anatomy fans out there.), has taken a step away from the acting game since the film wrapped.

Mara distanced herself from the world of Hollywood as she said the “business of acting” was something that made her really stressed out.

So, does she spend her time re-reading Moby Dick? Kind of- but not really.

Mara went to college and graduated from New York University in 2009 and has since persued a career in writing, playwriting specifically.

Although she is also currently writing a book, according to her website.

An active twitter user, she also enjoys a good throwback to her acting days and indulges fan with some sweet snaps of her former co-stars. Yes Matilda and Lavender ARE STILL BFFS AND THAT MAKES US ALL SO HAPPY!
