teen choice awards

After a public and messy break up, it appears that pop star Rita Ora had her performance cancelled at this weekend’s Teen Choice Award by her ex-boyfriend, Calvin Harris.

She apparently had been rehearsing for the show for over a month when Calvin intervened. The planned song was her hit single ‘I Will Never Let You Down’, but as Calvin wrote and produced the track, he has final say over when and if it can be performed.

“For anybody who doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song," Rita explained in an interview. "So he has to approve anything TV-wise… He owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”

The drama has heated up however as Calvin has responded on twitter to Rita’s claim, saying that he did stop her performing, and that he “had a damn good reason”.

Oooh intriguing.

We have a feeling their public split has a lot more juicy details to come.

Teenagers of the world had a bit of a meltdown when it was revealed that despite all the voting online, the winners are actually picked by the producers, not the audience.

The jig was up for the show runners when “Choice Viner” Cameron Dallas – upset that he lost out on the big “Web Star” award to YouTube’s Tyler Oakley – decided to tweet the truth.

“It’s funny how they told me I won the viner award 6 days before the voting ended and made the runners up still vote to tweet for them,” Cameron wrote.

Uh oh.

It turns out all the voting and promotion by the nominees so they can win, but just free advertising for the show. The winners are picked long before the voting ends.

The Teen Choice Awards confirmed this to be the case in a statement:

“The results of the voting were tabulated electronically by Teenchoiceawards.com and confirmed by a committee of Fox representatives. Teenasaurus Rox Inc had the right to determine the winners from among the top four vote getters of the nominees in each of the 88 categories. Ultimate choice was determined by the producers.”

The X-Factor is still real though, right? RIGHT?

One of our favourite Hunger Games actors Donald Sutherland who plays Katniss Everdeen's nemesis in the film, had something to say about an award he was granted at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The veteran actor admitted he was less than impressed and let the audience know how he felt in the most spectacular fashion ever…we love him even more now!

Watch it here as Niamh Geaney reports.

Rita Ora has reportedly been axed from the Teen Choice Awards because ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris blocked her performance.

The star is said to be devastated that her former beau would sink so low, and is gutted that she’s going to miss out on such a star-studded event because of petty ex drama!

The 23-year-old had planned to sing her hit I Will Never Let You Down – a collaboration with Calvin – at tonight's ceremony in LA.

But apparently Calvin refused to give his consent for her to sing this tune, and it was too late for Rita to prepare anything else.

It seems that break-ups are never easy – whether you’re famous or not!

After a tough few weeks –  including a car accident and leaked naked snaps – Selena Gomez could REALLY do with some good news.

And she’s got it!

Selena will be honoured at the Teen Choice Awards tonight with the best possible prize there is – the ‘Ultimate Choice Award’.

The Come and Get it singer will collect her prize at the annual ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in LA.

The prestigious trophy has been won by a number of huge stars, including Britney Spears, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher.

Selena will also be hoping to achieve a quadruple success tonight as she also appears on the shortlist for three categories, which have been voted for by fans.

The winners will be announced during the show, and the 22-year-old star has earned nominations for Choice Instagrammer, Female Hottie and Smile.

Meanwhile, it has also been announced that Jennifer Lopez has joined the line-up of presenters for the huge bash – which will air at 8pm on Fox, and be hosted by Tyler Posey and Sarah Hyland.

She will join a huge list of stars set to appear at the show, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Hilary Duff, Megan Fox, Kim Kardashian and Lea Michele.
