Jamie Foxx’s cringe national anthem performance is panned
Millions tuned in to check out the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight last night, so it was a massive moment for actor Jamie Foxx, who had the honour of singing the national anthem at the event.
While we all know that Jamie has a great set of pipes (remember the amazing job he did in Ray?) it seems that his performance of Star-Spangled Banner may have missed the mark.
During and after Jamie’s serenade, viewers flocked to social media to share their views on the performance, with the star’s twisty-turny version being largely panned.

One Twitter user summed up the kind of negative backlash Jamie’s rendition received in a tweet which read: “Jamie Foxx killed the national anthem. And by killed it, I mean it was like road kill.”
Another colourful observation read: “I’m glad I’m not alone in my belief that Jamie Foxx sounded like he had a pubic hair in his throat.”
Harsh, guys. Having watched the video, we’re putting the lower points of Jamie’s performance down to a mixture of nerves and that creepy background music.
