Conchita Wurst

We never saw it before… we'll never not be able to see it now.

Yes, it's suddenly dawned on us – and the rest of the world – that former Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst and former X Factor contestant Rylan Clark are basically the exact same person.

Today Conchita, 26, was a special guest on ITV's This Morning, a show on which Mr Clark, also 26, is a showbiz presenter.

And suffice to say that the talent TV show alumnus was also totally over the moon to be given the opportunity to meet the so-called Queen Of The Euro, who originally hails from Austria.

In fact, at one point This Morning host Eamonn Holmes had to lightheartedly ask Rylan: "Can't you act professional?" To which he replied: "I can’t, I love her!"

The Belfast-native presenter then revealed a snap sent into This Morning by one of Mr Clark's fans which showed the former CBB winner mocked up as Conchita winning the Eurovision – which she did last year in Denmark with the hit, Rise Like A Phoenix.

And amid the wave of Twitter remarks on the similarities between the two performers, Mr Holmes also told Conchita that she looked like "a cross between Zayn Malik and Kim Kardashian".

Ireland may not have made it to the Eurovision final, but this year’s winner is a massive hit in the celebrity world.

Around 180 million people tuned in last night to watch Austrian drag artist Conchita Wurst be crowned the Eurovision Song Contest winner with a score of 290, after belting out a roof-raising ballad Rise Like a Phoenix.

“This is dedicated to everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom,” a tearful Conchita said as she accepted the trophy. “We are unity and we are unstoppable.”

Celebrities took to Twitter last night to congratulate the singing sensation –  the alter ego of 25-year-old Tom Neuwirth.

Radio One DJ Jameela Jamil wrote, “I have nothing but love for Conchita.”

Comedian John Bishop added, “It’s only a song contest but tonight it showed talent can overcome prejudice and ignorance. Well done Conchita – I am glad I saw that moment.”

Boy George said, “Gorge. A vote for gay solidarity!”

Former Steps singer Claire Richards seemed to think she had been the inspiration behind Conchita’s win writing, “I think Conchita nicked her performance idea from my tour solo!!! Long dress on a plinth!”

Hmmmm… maybe not Claire.

TV presenter Gabby Logan added, “Conchita the World Beater.”

We really are gutted for Kasey and Can-Linn.

Last night’s Eurovision semi-final featured Austria’s drag artist Conchita Wurst and promised to match the drama of Tuesday night’s Ukraine-Russia tension.

There were the usual crazy acts, bizarre performances and cringe-worthy songs that also featured in the first semi-final, but Irish viewers were more invested in this show as our own was to take to the stage.

While Kasey gave it her all, Ireland’s performance faded into a medley of very similar songs and performances, so it wasn’t all that surprising we didn’t make the final cut.

After the results were announced, the singer said: “We were delighted we got to represent our country on a world stage,” Smith said after the results were announced. “Being in the final would have been a bonus but you can just never predict how these things are going to go. We put our heart and soul into it and gave it our all. It’s given me a real taste for being on the stage and as far as I’m concerned, this is only the beginning for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.”

The ten countries to make it through to Saturday’s final are Switzerland, Norway, Greece, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Malta, Belarus, Austria and  Finland.
