beauty blogger of the week

by

Viva Adonis is written by two Dublin girls, Deirdre Foley and Sinéad Smith who admit to having a pretty unhealthy passion for beauty. Their blog is a mix of skincare tips, fake tan hacks, make-up reviews, beauty tips, fashion and lifestyle.

SHEmazing! caught up with the girls to get the low down on their beauty secrets and tips:

What is your best budget beauty buy?
D: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is probably my most repurchased budget item. It’s an incredible concealer for the price so I always have a few – in my handbag and at home! It’s also one of the only concealers I can use both on blemishes and under the eyes – fantastic stuff.

S: Most definitely the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. After years of forking out for high-end micellar solutions to take my slap off before cleansing, I’m so glad that a budget version is available. It doesn’t cost much more than a fiver and is often on offer in Boots so, I stock up!

What is your top make-up tip?
D: Don’t cake on the foundation. Use a light hand and then go in with concealer on the areas where you need it. It took me years to learn this one!

S: Put some time into your brows. Whether that means growing them out, filling them in or seeing a professional to get them looking their best, the brows frame the face and instantly make any make-up look you do look sharp and polished.

Most girls have much-loved lipstick – what’s yours?
D: Probably MAC Lady Danger. It’s a real power red and the orangey undertone gives it a retro feel, which I love as I enjoy looking back to the fifties and sixties for make-up inspiration.

S: Oh God, do I really have to choose?! Probably MAC Violetta – an incredibly vibrant true purple. I’ve been stopped numerous times while wearing this by people wanting to know the shade and it goes equally well with a basic daytime look as it does with a smokey eye. It’s probably the most striking lipstick in my collection.

What was your very first perfume and what are you currently wearing?
D: I think my first perfume that I bought myself was CK One – predictable but it’s still a scent I like! Right now I am loving Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess for day and Tom Ford Black Orchid for night.

S: I think my very first perfume was Burberry, the original one. Now I wear Estée Lauder Modern Muse during the day and something heavier like Tom Ford Violet Blonde for evenings.

You’re only allowed use three make-up products for the rest of your life – what are they?
D: Foundation, liquid eyeliner and red lipstick! So Laura Mercier Silk Creme, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner and MAC Lady Danger. Don’t ask me again or I’ll change my mind!

S: I always maintain that all I need is my eyebrows on, some mascara and a flash of colour on the lips and I’d be happy out. Right now, that would mean Anastasia Brow Duo in Medium Brown, Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara and something versatile like MAC Morange lipstick that can be worn as an in-your-face orange lip or blotted down to a lovely, light coral-orange stain.

Anna-Leigh Rackard is not only an Irish beauty blogger, she is also a qualified make-up artist so you know you can trust her tips and advice! The Blusher Diaries is Anna-Leigh’s little escape where she can talk about things that she loves – beauty. It's not all about cosmetics and beauty products though, The Blusher Diaries also touches on lifestyle and fashion so there is plenty for the style conscious and beauty loving Irish girl.

SHEmazing! caught up with Anna-Leigh who let us in on her secrets and tips:

What is your best budget beauty buy?
My best budget beauty buy would be the Maybelline Fit Me concealer – I love this for under my eyes! It covers well, brightens under my eyes and last all day! This has replaced my MAC prolong wear concealer, recently.

What is your top make-up tip?
Well I don't know how I could survive without this tip especially for an eyeliner junkie like myself. I use Sellotape (make sure most of stickiness is removed on back of your hand first) to do my cat flick liner, using it as a straight edge to create the perfect flick. Instead of spending 20 minutes at my liner – in two minutes I'm done.

Most girls have much-loved lipstick – what's yours?
I'm huge fan of the Urban Decay Revolutionary lipsticks! I love their shade range and how moisturising they are!!

What was your very first perfume and what are you currently wearing?
I think my first perfume was Kate Moss – loved it! I'm currently wearing a Jo Malone perfume I got for Christmas! It's divine. When I want to feel ultra glam I use this!

You're only allowed use three make-up products for the rest of your life – what are they?
Oh jeepers, this is a toughie! Well, an eyebrow gel for sure – have to have my eyebrows in place. A concealer to cover my dark circles and any other blemishes and a lip balm! Can't go anywhere without a lip balm!

Irish woman Sue Jordan has a serious love for all things beauty and her blog, Cherry Sue Doin’ the Do, is no exception.

It’s not surprising that Sue has over 4,000 Facebook likes and nearly 4,500 Twitter followers, with a mix of beauty, travel, movies, TV and pop culture this is one blog that everyone can get on board with.

SHEmazing! caught up with Sue to get  the insider track on her secrets, tips and love of all things beauty.

What is your best budget beauty buy?
My top budget buy has to be Collection Concealer. It's the only budget product I've bought consistently for close to three years now. You'll pick it up for just €6.49 but it works like a product five times its price. Trust me.

What is your top make-up tip?
My top tip has to be to remember that there are no rules. Sure, follow the instructions printed on your product, then go ahead and do whatever the hell you want with it – it's yours. Lippie as blush? No problem. Blush as eye shadow? If you like. We can tend to take make-up far too seriously, the truth is we're playing dress up, it should be fun.

Most girls have much-loved lipstick – what's yours?
My fail safe lippie is from one of the most underrated brands in beauty today – Clarins. My lipstick of choice: Rouge Prodige in Fig. The rich and creamy formulation gives flattering shine and colour for hours on end. I tend to concentrate more on eye make-up so the muted fig shade is the ideal colour for me.

What was your very first perfume and what are you currently wearing?
My first perfume was '90s superstar fragrance, Fuzzy Peach from The Body Shop. I could make peoples' eyes water from 90 paces with the copious amounts I used but dognammit I was obsessed. Today I'm a little more subtle. Perfume du jour is L'Occitane's Frisson de Veveine, a fresh, green citrusy burst of scent – perfect for the summer months.

You're only allowed use three make-up products for the rest of your life – what are they?
Firstly, how cruel! Having gathered my thoughts though, my top three would have to be: Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – it's a budget base that punches well above its weight in terms of evening skin tone, coverage and finish. I LOVES it; Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara – Toddlers have been known to be blown over with the sheer gusts generated from batting my lashes with this luxe mascara on and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – or as it should be known – Photoshop For ALL. Everyone should have this palette of witchcraft and wizardry in their arsenal. Everyone.

Irish girl Danielle O’Malley lets us all in on her beauty secrets with her blog The Imperfect Beauty. The self confessed skincare and beauty obsessed blogger was shortlisted for the 2013 Blog Awards and it is easy to see why.  Danielle writes her reviews with honesty and personality, allowing a small glimpse into her life at the same time. Our favourite has to be her Budget Buy series which is perfect if you are strapped for cash.

SHEmazing! caught up with Danielle who let us in on her beauty secrets and must-have items:

What is your best budget beauty buy?
This is definitely Cocoa Brown 1hr Tan. I use it every week and it just gives the most natural looking (fake) tan that I’ve found. You apply it and only have to leave it on for 1hr, shower and a gorgeous natural tan appears over the next few hours. I tend to leave it on overnight if I want a more intense colour but it never looks OTT!  It costs around the €7 mark and for the quality of the tan it is just so amazing.

What is your top make-up tip?
Use eyelash curlers! It honestly makes such a difference to the way both your eyes and your mascara looks. I have been asked if I have eyelash extensions when really all I’ve done is curled my lashes. If you are in a hurry and haven’t time to apply mascara just do a quick curl and you are good to go!

Most girls have much-loved lipstick – what’s yours?
At the moment it is NARS Red Square, it is a matte orange-red. Once you apply it, it does not move, fade or bleed into the lines around your mouth. It completely brightens up my complexion and it is my go to bright lipstick this summer.

What was your very first perfume and what are you currently wearing?
My first perfume was Lacoste Touch of Pink, and everytime I smell it it reminds me of being back in Secondary School! Currently I am wearing Alien, my bottle is running low so I’m trying to use it sparingly!

You’re only allowed use three make-up products for the rest of your life – what are they?
For me this would be foundation, mascara and a cream blusher. I could use the cream blusher for both a lipstick and my cheeks and if I go without mascara I look a bit strange!
