Only last month, Jade Thirlwall was tipped to play Princess Jasmine in the live remake of Aladdin.

Rumours were swirling for a weeks, and to be fair, everyone got pretty excited at the prospect of Jade taking on the role.

However, it was announced this week that Jade didn't get the role, and instead it went to actress Naomi Scott.

We, along with Jade's fans, were pretty disappointed, but it seems like the Little Mix singer is not letting it get her down.

And if her most recent Instagram picture has anything to say about it, she's totally "over it."

We're sure Naomi will play a brilliant Jasmine, but we can't help but love Jade's little dig at Disney.

It's official!

Will Smith will play Genie in the upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin and we can't think of a better man for the job..

Disney made the announcement at the D23 Expo on Saturday, confirming previous rumours the Will Smith would follow in Robin Williams' footsteps for Guy Ritchie's adaptation.

It was also announced that Naomi Scott will play the part of Princess Jasmine, while newcomer, Mena Massoud will take on the coveted role of Aladdin himself.

Massoud, who was born in Egypt and raised in Canada, is part of the cast of Amazon's Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski, while Naomi is a British actress and singer whose mother is from northern India, and has appeared in the film The 33 and the Fox series Terra Nova

Aladdin is the latest in a string of Disney classics to be given a live-action make over, with films like Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book already having proved to be box office hits.

The original animated classic was the highest grossing film of the year in 1992 and even won awards for Best Score and Best Song with A Whole New World.

The remake is set to begin shooting in London some time this year, and if the cast so far is anything to go by, it looks like we're in for something really special.

If the rumours are true, we couldn't think of a better person to play Jasmine in the new Aladdin remake.

Despite having little acting experience, Jade Thirlwall of Little Mix fame is apparently in talks to take on the role of the princess.

According to The Sun, Jade is in the line up of possible people to play the character, and as she is of Yemini and Egyptian descent, her fans believe she would qualify ethically to play the Arab beauty.

A source told the publication: "Jasmine is Jade’s perfect role, so she’s delighted to have got this far in the process.

"The talks have been going on for some time now," the insider said.

“And the longer they go on, the better her chances are looking. All of the girls have their fingers crossed for her, as they always support each other."

Since April, there has been an open call for actors between the ages of 18-25 for the roles of both Aladdin and Jasmine.

Shooting for the film begins this summer and will last up to six months, which would mean a big commitment for Jade.

Will Smith is the favourite to play the Genie in the live-action remake of Aladdin

The Men In Black actor is currently in early negotiations with Disney to play the iconic character, according to Deadline.

Disney are keen to keep the success of their remakes rolling, after Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson smashed box office records.

If the rumours are true, then Will Smith will be the first big name to join the cast.

Will Smith will certainly have some big shoes to fill, as the original Genie in the 1992 classic was voiced by the late Robin WIlliams.

Filming is set to take place from July 2017 to January 2018, and a release date has not yet been announced.

The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie

So the internet is reeling as fans find yet another connection between two classic Disney films.

Thanks to Tumblr, we now have a pretty solid link between Aladdin and Beauty & the Beast that you probably never noticed before.

One Disney uber-fan recognised that Belle's favourite book as mentioned at the beginning of Beauty & the Beast when she is visiting a book store, may well be another well-known Disney classic.

Don't believe us?

Belle describes her favourite book at the start of the film as including far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells and a prince in disguise.

All sounds very familiar…

And the according to MTV, the link is totally tenable as a lot of the same people worked on each of the films one after the other.

Fair play Disney fans, fair play.

The legendary Hollywood actor Robin Williams would have turned 64 today.

On the eve of his birth date, his 25-year old daughter Zelda announced that she would be taking a break from all social media.

She posted a photo on her Instagram account to inform her followers: "In my absence, I understand there will be those who wish to leave messages regarding Dad on my board," she continued.

"But please attempt to be respectful and kind to one another in the process, both because I will not be here to delete or mediate trolling, and because kindness is in short supply these days anyhow."

Most of the comments left on the photograph are birthday wishes for Robin along with many messages of support for Zelda herself.

This isn’t the first time Zelda has taken a break from social media following her father’s death. In February of this year she spoke for the first time with Today about life after her father’s death.

She said: "It's going to take a lot of work to allow myself to have the sort of fun, happy life that I had, but that's important," she said.

"Anybody who has ever lost anyone works very hard to continue that memory in a positive way."

It is not quite a year since news of Robin William’s death came to light and many still find it hard to believe the man who played the hilarious Mrs. Doubtfire is no longer with us.

Robin’s final film Boulevard is sure to be a tear jerker but the trailer is also incredibly beautiful and uplifting.

We put together a couple of the many times Robin Williams was able to put a smile on our faces.

This dance scene

"All you have to do is think one happy thought…"

Every time the Genie gave some sass

"Oh Captain, my captain."

All it takes is one or two chords of a Disney song for our entire childhood to come flooding back in a wave of nostalgia.

That's why we have totally fallen in love with this Il Divo version of A Whole New World from Aladdin. And if it wasn't enough that the four lads got together to sing the classic, they also managed to rope in Lea Salogna, who was the singing voice of Jasmine in the 1992 film.

One listen to this and you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside for the rest of the day.

Pure perfection!
