So, Dougie Poynter had THIS to say about ex-girlfriend Ellie Goulding

There are some celebrity couples who we just can't seem to warm to (Taylor and Calvin, we're looking at you unforch), and then there are others who we can't help but root for.

Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter, you may step forward.

Since their split earlier this year, we've been holding out hope that the popstar pair will patch things up and give it another go, and it actually sounds like good ol' Dougie might just be on the same page as us!

Speaking to The Sun in recent days, the 28-year-old performer opened up about his ex-girlfriend, and it definitely sounds like he's not quite over the Love Me Like You Do singer.

"We hung out at Coachella, like all day, with her friends and my friends," he explained. "It was really, really cool. Everything is totally fine."

Adding further fuel to the fire that we might some day actually see a Goulding / Poynter wedding, Dougie said: "We love each other very much. We are the best of friends."

They love each other very much and they are the best of friends? We refuse to draw a line under this one yet.
