Public apologies are awkward at the best of times, but Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have officially taken the crown for Weirdest Celeb Grovelling Ever if a video uploaded by Australian Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce is anything to go by.

After breaking the country's strict biosecurity laws by smuggling their dogs Boo and Pistol down under last May, the Hollywood heavy-hitters issued a video-taped apology and warned the wider public against their actions.

So far, so Hollywood right? Well, it would be if it didn't look like the stars were being forced against their will to atone for their wrongdoing.

With their extra-serious faces and their deadpan delivery, Johnny and Amber sound exactly like we did when we gave our parents a well-rehearsed apology for raiding the drink cabinet that time.
