A lot of people complain that they don’t receive enough from their government, but Italian teens can’t say a word!

A new initiative will see the Italian Government PAYING teenagers to enjoy cultural pursuits.

According to reports, each teen who qualifies under scheme will receive €500 worth of discount vouchers for the cinema, museums, concerts and exhibitions.

The scheme is available to teens who turn 18 between 3rd November, 2016 and 31st December, 2017 – but they have to download the ‘18’ app before the end of the year. They can then download the vouchers via the app.

The project is set to cost the government a pretty penny – €290 million, to be exact – but they reckon it will be worth it in the end.

Speaking to local media, the government’s undersecretary explained: “It reminds youngsters how important cultural consumption is, both for enriching yourself as a person and strengthening the fabric of our society.”
