The BFG

If Roald Dahl books played as big a part in your childhood birthdays and Christmases as it did in ours, then you'll be only dying for The BFG to hit the big screen later this year, right?

We may be long past wishing we had gotten the chance to hang out with the world's friendliest giant and we know the ship has definitely sailed on us channelling our inner Sophie, but that doesn't mean we can't relive our youth with Stephen Spielberg's incredible adaptation.

While it's not hitting the silver screen until later this summer, the good folk from Entertainment One UK have released a new trailer which is bound to satisfy you until you can get your teeth into the real thing.

We don't know about you, but it's like someone literally splashed our imaginings across the big screen, and we LOVE it.

Prepare to relive your youth, ladies!

And now over to you…

Roald Dahl's stories are something we'll always remember from our childhood. But, one of our all-time favourite's is making its way onto the big screen.

The BFG tells the story of a little girl who meets a Big Friendly Giant, and he shows her all the wonders of Giant Country. At 24-feet tall, with enormous ears and a strong sense of smell, the giant keeps to himself for the most part… Until Sophie comes along.

With Steven Spielberg directing the flick, we can only imagine the wonder and amusement of the movie. And no matter how old we are, we can't wait for the film to bring us back to our childhood.

The BFG debuts in Ireland on July 22, but for now here's the trailer (eeek!).

Our favourite Roald Dahl book, The BFG, is being made into a film by acclaimed director Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks Studio yesterday announced who’s going to play the lovely Sophie!

Newcomer Ruby Barnhill has been offered the opportunity to play the little girl from London and is understandably overjoyed at the prospect, saying: “I feel incredibly lucky and I’m so happy. Sophie gets to go on this wonderful adventure and I’m so excited that I get to play her.”

The film won’t be released until July 2016. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited that our favourite childhood book will soon be brought to life, right?!
