His tragic – and unexpected – death took place at the weekend, and TMZ has now obtained the death certificate of Anton Yelchin.

The document states that the actor died as a result of 'blunt traumatic asphyxia' and that there were were no other significant conditions contributing to his passing. It adds that his death was 'rapid'.

TMZ originally broke the story that the Star Trek star had been killed, with a source connected with the investigation furthermore confirming to the website today that the 27-year-old died within a minute of impact.

Mr Yelchin's body was found pinned against a security gate at his LA home after friends of the actor became concerned when he didn’t make it to planned rehearsals on Sunday morning.

27-year-old Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin has died after a freak accident outside LA home this weekend.

Friends of the actor became concerned when he didn’t make it to planned rehearsals on Sunday morning and it was later revealed Anton had been killed in an accident involving his own car. 

It was reported by TMZ that the Alpha Dog actor was found pinned between his car and a brick mailbox pillar which was attached to a security gate.

The car was reportedly still running when Anton was found and although it is still not clear why the actor got out of his car, foul play is not suspected.

Stars have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the actor who is best known for his role as Chekov in the sci-fi hit.

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Tom Hiddleston said he was “absolutely devastated” to learn of the death.

Actor Chris Evans said the actor was “thoughtful, kind, and gifted”.

While Anna Kendrick described the situation is “unreal”.

The 42-year old actor Idris Elba has become the first ever make to appear solo on the cover of Maxim magazine.

Speaking about the news, editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear said “we’ve never in US Maxim history had a man on the cover solo.”

Previously men have appeared but alongside women so Idris’ cover makes it a first in the magazine’s 20 year history. We’re pretty pleased about this too.

According to the magazine they couldn’t think of anyone else in the world “more badass” than Idris to take the spot.

Describing the actor, musician and race car driver as “complex” and “sophisticated”, editors said “he was really the perfect embodiment of what I think the new Maximman is.”

Underneath the headline ‘Man Up’ the popular TV star is sporting his trademark beard and cuts quite the stylish figure in a black and grey animal print jacket.

'The guy broke the [British] land speed record which hasn't been touched since like 1928. He's sort of a living, breathing superhero,' said the magazine.

In May The Wire actor drove across the Pendine Sands in Wales at 180.361 mph to break the world land speed record. In a Bentley Continental GT, as you do.

He tells the magazine: “I just like the velocity, and I guess I’m slightly addicted to the risk of it.”

While there were plenty of rumours that got everyone's hopes up that he would take on the role spy James Bond, he admitted he doesn't think that will happen. He will however be on our screens in Star Trek Beyond

The Star Trek actress spoke about her excitement about being L’Oreal’s new spokesperson: “It puts the stamp on, like, ‘Congratulations, you’re finally a real woman!”

Saldana is featured in a video promoting L’Oreal which includes her looking at childhood photos and reminiscing.
