Gardaí are appealing for the public’s assistance after two people were killed in a serious road traffic collision this morning.

A man in his 70s and a woman in her 30s were fatally injured in a road traffic collision on the Drumcondra Rd Lower at approximately 6.30 am.

The deceased male and female have been removed to the Dublin City Mortuary, Whitehall where a post mortem examination will take place.

Gardaí wish to renew their appeal to motorists with dashcams or anyone travelling on Drumcondra Rd Lower between 5.45am and 6.15am to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 016668600 , the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.

A technical and forensic examination of the scene is currently underway. Drumcondra Road Lower will remain closed in both directions for a number of hours and diversions remain in place. Further updates will be available on Garda Twitter.

It is anticipated that the road will reopen at approximately 11am.

An investigation is underway following a fatal road traffic collision on the N25 Midelton to Castlemartyr Road in Co. Cork, which occurred at approximately 10:45am this morning.

A collision involving two cars and a truck has resulted in the death of a man in his 80s who was the sole occupant of a car.

The occupants of the second car, a man and woman (age unknown), were brought to Cork University Hospital where their injuries are said to be non life threatening.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and diversions are in place to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Investigation.

Gardaí in Kildare have renewed their appeal for witnesses to fatal collision between a lorry and car over the Christmas period.

The driver of the car, a 36-year-old woman, passed away in hospital last night as a result of her injuries.

The incident occurred at around 9.30am on Thursday, December 28 on Newtown Road in Celbridge.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the woman was taken to Naas Hospital.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Gardai at Leixlip are investigating, and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who can assist them in the investigation to contact them at Leixlip Garda Station at 01 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí in Donegal are currently investigating a road traffic accident which has left a 22-year-old man in a serious condition in Letterkenny University Hospital.

According to emerging reports, the single-vehicle collision occurred in Burnfoot, approximately five miles from Buncrana, in the early hours of this morning.

A Garda spokesman elaborated on the details, saying: "The collision occurred at approximately 3.10am on the 15th December on the main  Buncrana to Letterkenny Rd at Tieveban, Burnfoot." 

"The 4×4 collided with a stone wall. Emergency services attended the scene, the driver and sole occupant was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital."

It has been established that diversions have been put in place and the road remains closed to facilitate a forensic examination.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to anyone who may have used that road between 2.50am and 3.20am this morning, and advised them to contact Buncrana Garda station on 074 9320540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision in Cork last night.

The accident, which involved a bus and a car, happened at around 9.55pm on the R600 at Ballinacourty, Belgooly.

The driver of the car, and sole occupant of the car, was fatally injured.

The man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene, before his remains were removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-morten examination is due to take place.

There have been no reported injuries from any of the passengers on the bus.

The road will be closed between Coolcorran, Riverstick and Lybe, Belgooly to allow for a collision forensic examination of the area.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Nenagh Co Tipperary are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision.

The incident occurred on the M7 motorway between junction 24 and junction 23 northbound at 7am this morning.

A female driver and only occupant of a car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai believe that the car struck a barrier.

The woman's age is unknown.

The motorway between junctions 24 and 23 is currently closed to facilitate a Garda forensic collision investigation and will remain closed for a number of hours.

A pedestrian is in critical condition in the Mater Hospital this morning after being struck by a car. 

The 19-year-old pedestrian was involved in the collision on the Drumcondra Road upper between the junctions of Griffith Ave and Homefarm Road, Dublin. 

The incident occurred at around 4am this morning. 

Gardaí are currently investigating the serious incident. 

Diversions are in place while a forensic examination takes place. 

Commuters are asked to find alternative routes as the road is closed in both directions. 

The driver of the car was unharmed.
