marriage proposal

Meet Terry and Anna.

The newly crowned king and queen of romantic marriage proposals.

Anna wore her engagement ring around her neck for an entire year – and she didn't have a clue.

See, Terry concealed the ring in a necklace he made to celebrate the couple's first anniversary in 2015, but never told her what was inside.

"She absolutely loved it," he told GoodHousekeeping. "She wore it every day and everywhere we went, and pretty much never took it off."

It wasn't until Terry popped the question in Scotland in November 2016 that the hidden treasure was revealed.

"I picked Smoo Cave because it was a place we had talked about visiting since we first met, and 'smoo' comes from an old Norse word for 'hiding place,' so I think I get extra points for that one"

"Before we actually went down to the cave, I asked if I could have the necklace to take some photos of it among the rocks, which gave me the chance to break the seal with the knife," explained Terry.

The hopeless romantic then got down on one knee and revealed the ring that Anna had been carrying with her for months.

Of course she said yes!

"Now, with anything else I give her, she always inspects to see if something is hidden inside!"

Big congrats to the happy couple!

To celebrate the leap year tradition of women proposing to men, one woman took a very gutsy approach and decided to do it on live TV.

A woman named Helen appeared on This Morning, ready to pop the question to her butcher boyfriend Mark.

As she made her way into his place of work, the cameras pan over to Holly and Phillip, who look quite nervous.

Obviously surprised to see his girlfriend with a big film crew, Mark looked a little perplexed before the whole event went down.

Helen started off joking about sausages before saying: "I want to ask you a serious question, I've come to ask, will you marry me?"

And THIS is where we start to get really nervous. Like, really, really nervous.

First, he doesn't really answer, then he mumbles something about "need to think about it" before he eventually says, "of course I will." PHEW.

The reaction from Holly and Phillp is the best ever, though.

A Texas newsreader got a very big surprise, when she unknowingly read out her own marriage proposal: “An Odessa woman is about to get the surprise of her life and eventually a new last name.”

Cue her boyfriend walking in with a big bunch of flowers and the ring to finish it off. We love this!

EHarmony struck gold for their latest advert, as one man decided to use the site’s videos as an opportunity to propose his long-term girlfriend.

David and Natalie met on the hit dating site and have been together for three years. The couple decided to submit their “success story” to the site, but what Natalie didn’t know, was that David had staged the whole thing.

David then got a film team to pose as camera crew for eHarmony and in the middle of his and Natalie’s commercial “audition” he decided to pop the question to her.
