Passengers have been removed from a Heathrow-bound flight from Dubai following a bomb threat.

The Virgin Atlantic staff removed passengers to allow for extra security procedures following the threat.

The flight number is VS401, which was due to depart Dubai at 10.53am local time, and arrive in London at 5pm this afternoon.

'Our customers travelling on the VS401 from Dubai to London Heathrow have temporarily disembarked the aircraft for additional security check,' a Virgin Atlantic spokesman told The Sun.

'This is purely as a precautionary measure as the safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and we’re planning to have everyone on their way as quickly as possible.'

One passenger who was on board the aircraft told The Daily Mail: 'We were just moving and then the captain called his flight crew immediately and they all ran up the front.'

'Ten minutes later we were told to get off.'

Manchester's Victoria Coach Station was also evacuated this morning over a similar threat, but was later reopened to the public.

This is a developing story.

According to emerging reports, Nice airport has been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious package.

It has been established that travellers were advised to leave Terminal 2 after an abandoned bag was spotted at the Air France boarding area just hours after two other 'suspicious' packages were discovered in the same terminal.

Travellers have taken to Twitter to share developments with the public, and it has been established that passengers were able to re-enter the airport approximately an hour after the police removed the package.

The evacuation comes just a month after a terrorist attack in the same city which claimed the lives of 85 people.

A suspicious package was found this morning near Store Street Garda Station.

A man in his 40s has been arrested and searched after he was spotted in the Store Street area. He has been taken to Irishtown Garda Station for more questioning.

The Luas Red Line and Busaras bus station were closed down, as well as The Jacobs Inn Hostel. The hostel was evacuated around 6.30am, when the alarm was raised.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai have closed off a road after an incident this morning and the Army Bomb Disposal Team attended the scene."

The road has now been re-open but commuters are expected to be delayed if travelling by train or on the Luas Red Line.
