The news broke back in July: Louis Tomlinson was expecting his first child.

The mother-to-be is 23-year-old LA-based stylist Briana Jungwirth – and although the duo are no longer in a relationship, both were said to be overjoyed as the prospect of impending parenthood.

Still, since the pregnancy was made public, countless fans have argued that the whole thing is entirely FAKE – construed to cover-up Louis's relationship with bandmate Harry Styles.

And while One Direction must have to take daily gossip in their stride – it seems this particular rumour has proved rather more unsettling.

In fact, Liam Payne has now publicly spoken of his anger relating to the matter.

“He’s very happy about becoming a dad.

"But the funny thing is, there are some people out there who think that Louis getting Briana pregnant is fake,” the One Directioner acknowledged to Attitude magazine during a recent interview.

"And that’s the sort of sh** that gets to me.

"But you have to hold your tongue and that’s fine. I mean, it’s not really any of my business anyway.”

The baby will arrive early next year, and Louis is said to be looking for houses in the Kardashian-approved neighbourhood of Calabasas, where Briana's family live.

Although Louis and Briana were never officially a couple, they did enjoy several dates in May, just weeks after the singer broke up with his girlfriend of four years, Eleanor Calder.

Liam Payne is definitely hitting back at his critics in his newest photoshoot.

The One Direction star did a rare solo shoot for gay magazine Attitude, framing himself once and for all as an LGBT ally. The new issue comes out tomorrow, and will have not one but two collectible covers.

"I'm on the cover of the new issue of @AttitudeMag," the singer wrote on Twitter today, shortly before the covers were released.

"Can't wait for you all to see the shoot!"

Liam came under fire last month when comments he made during a One Direction concert led to allegations of homophobia on Twitter.

Speaking to the crowd during a gig in Columbus, Ohio, Liam mentioned a song which was "about trying to find that number one woman of your life," something he said only the men in the crowd would understand.

He was later forced to set the record straight, telling his 20.9m Twitter followers that he was "in no way shape or form homophobic" and that he had not meant to "offend people."

Last week Liam's bandmate Harry also made a gesture of support to the LGBT community, draping a Pride flag over his shoulders during a New York gig.

Harry has always been vocal in support of his gay fans, with positive results.

After he publicly recorded a message of support for London's Lesbian and Gay Switchboard, fans rallied to raise over €15,000 for the charity in honour of the singer's 21st birthday back in February.
