Audience members were left shocked after Phoenix Nights performer Ted Robbins collapsed on stage during the opening night of the Peter Kay comedy in Manchester last night.

The star was rushed to hospital after clutching his chest and collapsing in front of the audience at Manchester Arena.

Realising the seriousness of the situation,  fellow cast member Justin Moorhouse  sprung into action telling the crowd: "We are very sorry. This is not part of the show. I'm afraid we are going to have to postpone the show tonight."

Friends and family of the much-loved performer have taken to social media to assure fans that the 59-year-old actor will pull through.
