Michaela McAreavey’s husband John looks to future with fiancée

John McAreavey has found happiness again following the tragic 2011 killing of his wife Michaela.

The GAA player met his current partner Tara Brennan two years ago, and sources confirmed this week that the pair are engaged.

Earlier this week, John posted a picture of the pair at a Belfast industry screening of Spectre, and in other photos of the event, a ring can be seen on Tara's wedding finger.

"Yes, they are engaged," a friend told The Irish Mirror.

The couple met on a night out two years ago, and John's friends and family are said to be delighted to see he has found happiness again.

"John is extremely private and has a very tight circle round him… He will never forget Michaela," another source added.

"They [John and Tara] are a lovely couple and Tara is a brilliant girl…They are both really good people and are looking forward to the future together."

Michaela and John were on their honeymoon in Mauritius in 2011 when Micheala was found murdered in her hotel bathroom. The case remains open.

“We’re happy for him he’s been able to move on with his life in view of what he had to endure when he was out there in Mauritius," Michaela's father Mickey Harte said last year.

Since her death, John has helped set up the Michaela Foundation in her memory, an organisation which aims to inpspire confidence in young girls.
