Jack Osbourne pens emotional tribute after father Ozzy Osbourne’s death
Jack Osbourne has spoken out for the first time since the death of his father.
On July 22, the Osbourne family confirmed that heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne had passed away at the age of 76.
His death occurred just over two weeks after he appeared on stage for the final time, as he reunited with his band Black Sabbath for their first live performance since 2005.
Ozzy is survived by his wife, former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne, and his five children – Jessica, Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack.
Now, a few weeks on from his passing, Ozzy’s youngest child Jack has taken the opportunity to post an emotional tribute to him.
Earlier today, the 39-year-old took to Instagram to upload a video montage of photos and videos of himself with Ozzy, throughout their years together.
“I haven’t really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father. My heart has hurt too much. I’m gonna keep this short because he certainly hated long rambling speeches,” Jack began in his caption.
“He was so many things to so many people, but I was so lucky and blessed to be apart of a very small group that got to call him ‘Dad’. My heart is full of so much sadness and sorrow, but also so much love and gratitude. I got 14,501 days with that man and I know that is such a blessing. I think this quote best describes my father,” he continued.
“Hunter S. Thompson once said: ‘Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!’’” the reality star quoted.
“That was my dad. He lived and he lived his life fully. I love you dad,” Jack concluded.
In a statement to announce Ozzy’s death last month, the Osbourne family wrote: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”
They added: “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
